Tuesdays
Firm Believers is our Interchurch fun-fitness class, from 7.00-7.45 pm. Suitable for all levels of fitness - go at your own pace. Wear any comfortable clothing and shoes. This is your chance to get fitter and slimmer. Relaxed atmosphere - come and give it a try for £5 a session (note change of fee). Stay on if you wish for tea, etc. and chat. More details here. Bollywood Dance Fitness from beginners to mixed ability, invited to join our dance class in a fun and friendly environment at St James' Community Centre, on Fridays from 2.00-2.45pm.

Wednesday 7th February
Pre-Lenten Preparation
In a series of three standalone talks in Beckenham, Petts Wood and Bromley, Fr Fio Mascarenhas SJ, an international speaker, will help us explore this theme between 6th and 8th February. St James’ will host the talk at 8.00pm in the Community Centre. You are warmly invited to hear Fr Fio then, or any of the other evenings. Saturday 10th February
The Power of Colour
Unleash your creativity with a palette knife workshop with Zsuzsanna Pataki while exploring the London CityScape, from 10.00am to 1.00pm in the Community Centre. Following a step-by-step demo by Zsuzsanna, you will develop your own cityscape in acrylics, with sponges and palette knives. Great fun and a new technique if your default tool is a brush. Professional colours, canvas and tools provided. Beginners are very welcome. Invite friends and sign up together by calling the parish office on 01689 827100. Recommended age 14-144 years, special discount for the parish £25 per person.

Fr Fio Mascarenhas will be celebrating a Healing Mass at 6.00pm to celebrate World Day of the Sick.
Monday 12th February
There will be a meeting for all existing Eucharistic Ministers and anyone interested in becoming a Eucharistic Minister.at 8.00pm in the church.
Tuesday 6th and 13th February
St James The Great 'Memory Cafe'
The Dementia Cafe at St James’ will be held on the first two Tuesdays of each month from 2.00-3.30pm in the Community Centre. This will be a time for guests with dementia and their carers to come for refreshments and a chat in a comfortable and safe environment and, if they wish, join in with activities such as quizzes, games and music. Shrove Tuesday 13th February
Sign up on the sheet in the Church porch if you wish to eat hot delicious pancakes from 5.00-7.00pm. Booking numbers restricted to the first 35 who sign up. Book fast to guarantee a place as this event is not to be missed.
Ash Wednesday 14th February
Masses at 9.30am and 8.00pm. There will be Stations of the Cross every Sunday during Lent at 4.00pm.

The next meeting will be held at the Community Centre from 10.00-11.30am.

The Friends of St James'
We’re making some changes to support the Friends of St James and to help to develop the role and activities of this new parish group. So there will now be a very direct link between the Friends and the leader of the Social Pillar of the PPC, Mary O’Mahony.
There will be a meeting at 8.00pm in the Community Centre to explain our plans more fully. Fr David invites anyone who is interested in these changes to attend this meeting, whether you are currently a member of the Friends, or would just like to know more about what’s happening.

CAFOD Lent Fast Day
Give up a meal today and offer the money saved to the second collection at all Masses this weekend. The government will match every £1 we give to CAFOD during Lent this year, so we can make an even bigger impact to this vital international aid work.

St James’ Youth Group
The next Junior Youth Group will be held in the Community centre from Noon to 2.00pm. £1.50 per session, which includes lunch.
