This scheme gives parishioners an opportunity to have a tree planted in a British woodland. A certificate of dedication is received by the purchaser. The trees are usually dedicated in memory of a loved one, or to mark special occasions such as baptisms, weddings, birthdays, etc. We have erected a small branch in the church entrance and on this each dedication is symbolised by a paper leaf.
The scheme was launched in May 2013 and the target of 60 trees was exceeded a year later. Parishioners have been offered the chance to have trees planted in the National Forest, by the Woodland Trust, and in the Caledonian Forest. They complete a form which includes their dedication and this is handed to the LiveSimply Group which coordinates all purchases. Where possible we add a reference to St James' being a LiveSimply parish at the end of the dedication.
