The parish banner for LiveSimply
During the 11.00am Mass on Sunday 20th May 2012, Bishop Pat Lynch blessed a banner designed and made by Shirley Rutter a member of the parish’s Monday Craft Club. It is deliberately simple in design and made entirely from recycled materials. It will act as a beacon for the LiveSimply activities in which the parish engages over the coming months.
The Bishop was making a weekend visitation to St James'. He had confirmed 32 young people on the previous Friday evening, and it was great joy to see the banner brought to the sanctuary by three of them (Phaedra Corteen, Stella Delf and Sophie Horner). The Bishop remarked that it was particularly appropriate that the banner was held by three young people because it is their generation that will become the stewards of God’s creation. He carefully described the three principles set down for the LiveSimply award before blessing the banner.
