The Chorus, comprising nearly 70 singers, together with two soloists and organ, gave an uplifting performance of 'The Crucifixion' composed by John Stainer in 1887. The tenor was Adrian Green and the bass Jonny Davies, with accompaniment by Revd Bryan Wells on the organ. Dominic Wells conducted the Chorus for the first time. Over £1,400 was raised for the Marie Curie Cancer Fund.
Petts Wood Festival Chorus is an open choir and new voices are always welcome. Music reading is helpful but not essential – indeed, for many members this is the first choir they have taken part in. Further details can be obtained by contacting Fr Bryan Wells.
The Chorus meets each year between January and March and gives a concert towards the end of Lent. We advertise during November. All singers are most welcome to rehearsals which take place in St James' on Sunday afternoons.
