The Chorus, comprising some 80 singers, together with four soloists and organ, gave a masterly rendition of Mozart’s Requiem in St Michael’s raising in excess of £2,000 for the Special Baby Unit Fund at the Princess Royal University Hospital. The church was full for the occasion, and we were delighted to have Bishop Pat Lynch with us, together with staff and committee of the Baby Unit. It was a wonderful occasion – musical, ecumenical, serving the community ... and fun!
Petts Wood Festival Chorus is an open choir and new voices are always welcome. Music reading is helpful but not essential – indeed, for many members this is the first choir they have taken part in. Further details can be obtained by contacting Fr Bryan Wells.
The Chorus meets each year between January and March and gives a concert towards the end of Lent. We advertise during November. All singers are most welcome to rehearsals which take place in St James' on Sunday afternoons.
