Regular events during term time
Pondering the Word in church from 11.00am to 12noon; all are welcome to this quiet reflective way of looking at the following week's Gospel.
Firm Believers is our Interchurch fun-fitness class, from 7.00-7.45 pm.  Suitable for all levels of fitness - go at your own pace.  Wear any comfortable clothing and shoes.  This is your chance to get fitter and slimmer. Relaxed atmosphere - come and give it a try for £5 a session (note change of fee). Stay on if you wish for tea, etc. and chat.  More details here.

Saturday 3rd June
There will be a social event for the many volunteers who help the parish of St James' in a variety of ways.  It will be held in the Community Centre from 7.00-10.00pm.  Fr David invites anyone who helps in church or as a member of a group, to contact the Parish Office before 15th May so that catering can be planned.  Welcomers, Readers, Eucharistic Ministers, Cleaners, Catechists, Flower arrangers, Choristers and Servers (above Year 8), Bar and Coffee assistants, Collectors and Tellers, Uniformed Group leaders, members of the Finance Committee, PPC or JPIC, and leaders of groups such as CWL, Knights, Parent-Toddler, Friends of St James’, Liturgy Group, and Dad & Me - you are all invited to contact the Parish Office.

Weekend 3rd-4th June
This weekend we welcome, through Holy Baptism: Patrick James McGeown and his parents Paul and Caroline, Evelyn Lily Wright and her parents Matthew and Sarah-Louise.
Catenian Association
Members of the Blackheath and Chislehurst Circle of the Catenian Association will be attending all Masses and will give a very short talk at the end of Mass about the aims and aspirations of their Association.  They will also be hosting teas and coffee after the 9.15am and 11.00am Masses.
Wednesday 7th June
The next Parish Pastoral Council meeting will take place at 7.30pm in the Community Centre.  Parishioners are very welcome to come along for the first half hour of the meeting.  Alternatively, you may raise any relevant issue using the PPC mailbox which is ppc@stjamespettswood.org
Saturday 10th June
The parish garden clearance will take place at 9.00am.  Please meet Frank Simon in the church car park.

First Holy Communion Masses will take place at St James'.
Thursday 15th June
There will be a Requiem Mass for Paul Robinson at 10.00am.  Please note this change of Mass time.

Celebration of the Sacrament of Marriage
There will be a special Mass in St George’s Cathedral for those celebrating their 1st, 10th, 25th, 40th, 50th or 60th+ wedding anniversaries this year.
Thursday 22nd June
Parish Annual General Meeting
This year’s AGM will be held at 8.00pm in the Community Centre.  The meeting will include information about, and from, the PPC and parish groups and activities.  The Parish Groups are invited to prepare a presentation giving us an overview of the year and their aims for the next.
Sunday 25th June
Service of Remembrance for Bereaved Parents
Losing a baby or child is one of the most painful experiences anyone may ever have to face.  You are warmly invited to this service which will take place at 4.00pm in St James' Community Centre and family and friends are also very welcome.  The service will be a time of music, prayer, poetry and reflection.  We do hope you will be able to stay afterwards for refreshments.

Cheese & Wine Event for all Youth Ministers
If you are interested in youth ministry and are already involved in your parish or would simply like to find out more, you are warmly invited to attend this event at St James’ at 8.00pm.  Take this opportunity to get to know other youth ministers in Bromley parishes, share your experiences and discover the programme of exciting activities and projects we have in store to engage young people in their faith for the coming year.  To reserve your place, RSVP: susan.longhurst@bromleydeanery.org by 20th June 2017.

If you go down to St James’ today, you’re sure of a big surprise...
in the Parish Garden (or in the Community Centre if the weather is poor).
£3 adults (includes a drink and a cake); £1 child (please bring your teddy); Teddy Bears free!  Raising money for CWL Charities.
