Regular events during term time
Pondering the Word in church from 11.00am to 12noon; all are welcome to this quiet reflective way of looking at the following week's Gospel.
Firm Believers is our Interchurch fun-fitness class, from 7.00-7.45 pm.  Suitable for all levels of fitness - go at your own pace.  Wear any comfortable clothing and shoes.  This is your chance to get fitter and slimmer. Relaxed atmosphere - come and give it a try for £5 a session (note change of fee). Stay on if you wish for tea, etc. and chat.  More details here.

This weekend we welcome, through Holy Baptism: Lucas Gregory and his parents Martin and Susana; and Tadhg Mensah and his parents Denzel and Linda.
Sundays 7th and 14th May
The Confirmandi will be washing cars to raise funds for St Helen’s in Peru.  Bring your car to the top car park before the 9.15am and 11.00am Masses ready to be collected at the end of Mass.  The cost is £5.  If any regulars at the 6.00pm Mass want their cars washed they are very welcome to bring them along on Sunday morning.  Thank you for your support which will help the parish overseas project.

Caste discrimination conference
The Christian Network Against Caste Discrimination (CNACD) is holding a two day international conference on Christian responsibility to Dalits and caste discrimination at the Amigo Hall, St George’s Cathedral from 10.00am to 5.00pm.  Representatives from different Christian communities are invited to take part.  Speakers include Cardinal Turkson, Bishop Pat Lynch, Bishop Richard Harries and Lord Alton.  To register and for further information email Fr Appu Anthony Paul at apauls@gmail.com.
Weekend 13-14th May
Manna Centre collection
With homelessness in London particularly, on the increase, the great work of the Manna Centre can't happen without the support and generosity of people!  As a parish we have been generously supporting this worthy cause through 6-monthly collections over a number of years.  Take a look at the display at the back of the church for more information and ideas of items that are much needed and bring them along this weekend.
Tuesday 16th May
Bishop Pat Lynch will be at St James' to confirm 30 of our young parishioners.  The Mass starts at 7.00pm and everyone is warmly invited to attend and celebrate with them.
Weekend 20th-21st May
This weekend we welcome, through Holy Baptism: Lily South and her parents Christopher and Katherine; Logan McMullan and his parents Scott and Aneta; and Beatrice Knott and her parents Andrew and Arvie.
The Annual Plant Sale in aid of our overseas project, St Helen’s Parish, Peru, will be held in the yard adjacent to the Community Centre after all Masses.  Enter via the car park or hall.  Stalls include annuals, perennials, vegetables, children’s tombola, cookies and cakes.  The hall & bar will be open on Saturday after evening Mass.  Experienced gardeners from the parish will be available for advice, and there will be assistance with your purchases by some of our young parishioners.  Anyone with a healthy but unwanted plant should not discard it, but find it a new home at the sale.  Plant donations can be left by the gate at the far end of main car park any time on Saturday or bring with you before Mass.  Enquiries to di.betts@stjamespettswood.org with full details given on this colourful poster.
Monday 22nd May
Petts Wood Catholic Women's League
The CWL will hold their monthly meeting at 8.00pm in the Community Centre.  Please come along if you would like to learn more about the CWL.
Wednesday 24th May
The whole school will attend Mass at 9.30am.  The Mass will be dedicated to Mary and  parishioners are very welcome to take part in the procession to the school afterwards.
