Regular events during term time
Mondays
Pondering the Word in church from 11.00am to 12noon; all are welcome to this quiet reflective way of looking at the following week's Gospel.
Tuesdays
Firm Believers is our Interchurch fun-fitness class, from 7.00-7.45 pm.  Suitable for all levels of fitness - go at your own pace.  Wear any comfortable clothing and shoes.  This is your chance to get fitter and slimmer. Relaxed atmosphere - come and give it a try for £5 a session (note change of fee). Stay on if you wish for tea, etc. and chat.  More details here.
Fridays
The Parent Toddler group meets from 1.30-3.00pm in the Community Centre.

Friday 3rd March
The Women's World Day of Prayer Service in which local churches participate, takes place at St James' this year at 2.00pm.  The women of the Philippines have prepared the service and the theme is 'Am I being unfair to you?'  (God's question to the people of the Philippines).  The Filipino women in our community are warmly invited to attend the service rehearsal in the church on Friday 10th February at 10.30am to decide upon ways in which they can be involved.
 
Sunday 5th March
Coffee and pastries after Mass
You’re invited by the Friends of St James' to come and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea (or squash for little people) and a pastry after Mass in the Community Centre.  Meet members of our parish and chat over a drink and find out more about the Friends, what the group does, and the events it has planned for 2017.  Hot drinks are free to anyone wearing a Friends' badge.
 
This weekend we welcome through Holy Baptism, Bailey and Edith Lane and their parents Guy and Claire; Erin Bridie McGuire and her parents Sean and Elizabeth; and Julia Maria Anderson and her parents Stewart and Maria.
 
Monday 6th March
Baptism preparation classes will take place at 8.15pm in the Parish Office (281a Crescent Drive) for those parents that have been invited.
 
Tuesday 7th March
Lenten Evening Talks at St James' (8.00-9.30pm)
Fr Denis McBride on "Stations of the Cross".  A Redemptorist Publications bookstand will be available after Fr Denis’ talk.  The full programme and details of events planned for Lent can be seen here.
 
Wednesday 8th March
A Parish Pastoral Council meeting will take place at 7.30pm in the Community Centre.  Parishioners are very welcome to come along for the first half hour of the meeting.  Alternatively, you may raise any relevant issue using the PPC mailbox which is ppc@stjamespettswood.org
 
Friday 10th March
CAFOD Lent Fast Day
Give whatever you can save to CAFOD by fasting on this Friday.  Special envelopes will be handed out the weekend before and also the one after.
 
Monday 13th March
The Requiem Mass for Denis Nelligan will take place at 10.30am.  There will be no Mass at 9.30am today.

Tuesday 14th March
The Reverends Enrique Romero-Aguilar and Terry Sparks, chaplains at King's College Hospital, on “Christ’s Passion and Sharing in Suffering” in Christ Church, URC, Tudor Way, Petts Wood, commencing at 8.00pm.  They will talk about their experience of Christ in their own lives and how this impacts on their work in sharing with the suffering of others.  The event will end at 9.00pm with refreshments.
 
Saturday 18th March
Dad & Me
The next meeting will be held in the Community Centre from 10.00-11.30 am.
St Patricks Night ‘Craic’ in the Community Centre
Organised by Knights of St Columba this will feature traditional Irish entertainment with live music, disco and buffet.  Tickets £10 or £25 for a family ticket on sale after Mass.   All profits will go to the Development Fund.
 
Weekend 18-19th March
Now back in the UK having worked in Uganda for a small NGO for the last two years, Nick Babb is keen to continue to promote the NGO's core value of socio-economic empowerment.  To this end, he will be having a small display of the popular craft and coffee items after all three Masses next weekend.  Please support by buying something small as an authentic gift for a loved one!
 
This weekend we welcome, through Holy Baptism, Nicole Vaz and her parents Darrell & Carol.
 
Sunday 19th March
We will welcome the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community at 5.30pm in the Community Centre.  More information to follow.  All parishioners welcome.
 
Monday 20th March

Tuesday 21st March
Revd Ben Marlowe will hold a reflective evening “40 days and 41 Nights" in  Southborough Lane Baptist Church, commencing at 8.00pm.
 
Wednesday 22nd March
The Justice and Peace Group will meet at 7.45pm in the Parish Office meeting room (281A Crescent Drive).  All parishioners are assured of a warm welcome.
 
Weekend 25-26th March
There will be a Traidcraft Stall after all Masses this weekend.  All the usual favourites and orders will be taken for the REAL EASTER EGG.  Out of 80 million chocolate Easter eggs sold each year this is the only Fairtrade one with the Easter story in the box.
 
Thursday 30th March
Dr Cynthia Lumley on “How the Reformation Changed Art"  in Christ Lutheran Church, 225, Poverest Road, Petts Wood, commencing at 8.00pm.
