Regular events during term time
Pondering the Word in church from 11.00am to 12noon; all are welcome to this quiet reflective way of looking at the following week's Gospel.
Firm Believers is our Interchurch fun-fitness class, from 7.00-7.45 pm.  Suitable for all levels of fitness - go at your own pace.  Wear any comfortable clothing and shoes.  This is your chance to get fitter and slimmer. Relaxed atmosphere - come and give it a try for £5 a session (note change of fee). Stay on if you wish for tea, etc. and chat.  More details here.
The Parent Toddler group meets from 1.30-3.00pm in the Community Centre.

The Junior Youth Group will meet in the Small Hall of the Community Centre between 11.30-2.30pm.
Sunday 5th February
The Friends of St James' – Coffee after Mass
You’re invited by the Friends of St James' to come and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea (or squash for little people) after Mass this Sunday in the Community Centre.  Meet members of our Parish and chat over a cup of coffee or tea and find out more about the Friends, what the group does, and the events it has planned for 2017.  Hot drinks are free to anyone wearing a Friends badge!
Friday 10th February
The Women's World Day of Prayer Service will take place on Friday 3rd March (see What's On).  The Filipino women in our community are warmly invited to attend the service rehearsal in the church at 10.30am today to decide upon ways in which they can be involved.

Care for Our Common Home
Pope Francis published his encyclical Laudato Si' (Praise Be) in June 2017 and was widely acclaimed for its perception of the state of our world's ecology.  The Justice & Peace Group at St James' is organising an event, at the request of Fr David, to give parishioners a chance to find out more about Laudato Si'.  The main speaker will be Susy Brouard of the CAFOD Theology Team and participants will be able to ask questions and give opinions in the course of the afternoon.  The event will start with registration at 2.00pm and finish by 5.30pm in time for evening Mass.  The issues are inter-generational and it is hoped that parishioners of all ages will attend.  Anyone interested should email laudato.si@stjamespettswood.org.

There will be a meeting of the Pastoral Care Team at 8.15pm.
Saturday 18th February
The next meeting of Dad & Me will be held in the Community Centre from 10.00-11.30 am.
Weekend 18-19th February
This weekend we welcome, through Holy Baptism: Patrick Leo Clark, his parents Jane and Thomas and godparents Sarah, Emma and George; Ariela Nanna, her parents Mandy and Dominic and godparents Grace and Jordan; and Scarlett Lily Jeevaratnam, her parents Angela and Mark and godparents Melina and Alessandro.
Monday 20th February
There will be a meeting for Confirmation candidates will be held at 7.00pm in the Community Centre.
Wednesday 22nd February
The Justice and Peace Group will meet at 7.45pm in the Parish Office meeting room (281A Crescent Drive).  All parishioners are assured of a warm welcome.  
Saturday 25th February
Military Whist Drive
The CWL will be holding another one of their popular Military Whist Drives.  The doors will open at 7.30pm with instruction for those who have not played before or need a reminder.  Play will begin at 8.00pm.  Tickets are £6 which include a light supper and prizes for the winning tables.  This is a fun evening suitable for both adults and children who are able to join in and play cards.  The bar will be open and there will be a raffle.  All profits will go towards various charities.
Sunday 26th February 2017
St Joseph's e dintorni
Calling all Italians, their families and friends from St Joseph's, Bromley and all surrounding Catholic parishes.  Our first Italian Sunday Mass will be presided by Fr Saju at St Joseph's RC Church, 1 Plaistow Lane, Bromley, BR1 2PR, at 12.30pm followed by a bring-and-share lunch at the Holy Trinity Convent hall, behind the church, where we'll celebrate the Carnevale season together.  After Mass, all children are invited to dress up as their favourite character or mascherina! If you'd like to join us, please show your interest by texting your name and email address to Carmela G on 07833 648265.  Further details will be sent.  Do bring a friend - the more the merrier!
Monday 27th February
The members of the Catholic Women's League will be meeting at 8.00pm in the Community Centre.  If you would like to join them or find out more about the CWL  please join them.
Shrove Tuesday 28th February
Sign up on the sheet in the Church porch if you wish to eat hot delicious pancakes on from 5.30-6.30pm.  Booking numbers restricted to the first 30 who sign up.  This is a free event and is organised by the SVP and the senior youth group.  Book fast to guarantee a place is this event not to missed.  Email Peter Benson to book and for any queries.
