Regular events during term time
Mondays
Pondering the Word in church from 11.00am to 12noon; all are welcome to this quiet reflective way of looking at the following week's Gospel.
Tuesdays
Firm Believers is our Interchurch fun-fitness class, from 7.00-7.45 pm.  Suitable for all levels of fitness - go at your own pace.  Wear any comfortable clothing and shoes.  This is your chance to get fitter and slimmer. Relaxed atmosphere - come and give it a try for £5 a session (note change of fee). Stay on if you wish for tea, etc. and chat.  More details here.
Fridays
The Parent Toddler group meets from 1.30-3.00pm in the Community Centre.

Tuesday 1st November
All Saints Day, a holyday of obligation.  The whole school will attend 9.30am Mass and there will be Mass at 8.00pm.
 
Wednesday 2nd November  
All Souls – Mass for our Deceased
For all those families who have lost a family member in the last year, a special Mass will be held on All Souls Day at 8.00pm.  All parishioners are most welcome to attend.  This Mass will be in addition to the 9.30am Mass and hopefully those at work will get a chance to come in the evening.  
 
Monday 7th November
Confirmation 2017
Calling all students of Year 9 and above who wish to be confirmed next year.  There will be a “Come and See” meeting at 8.00pm in the church.  This meeting is for candidates and their parents.  At the end of the meeting, packs will be distributed ready for enrolment into the programme which starts with a kick off day on Saturday 19th November.  If you intend to come to the meeting on the 7th, please let the parish office know by phone or email: parish.office@stjamespettswood.org.uk.  The catechists look forward to meeting everyone.
 
Tuesday 8th November
Annual Mass for Deceased of the Deanery
A special Mass will be celebrated at St Joseph’s Church in Bromley at 11.30 am.  All parishioners would be most welcome.  
 
Wednesday 9th November
The “Year of Mercy” at St James'
Group discussion at 8.00pm in the Community Centre on “Mercy and New Life” John 11: 1-45.
 
Thursday 10th November
Weekly rehearsals for the Christmas Choir will start, taking place from 8.00-9.15pm in church.  Commitment to attending rehearsals will be important as most of the songs and carols will be sung in parts.  If you are interested in being involved or require more information, please sign up on the forms at the back of the church after Mass or email the Parish Office.
 
Weekend 12-13th November
Traidcraft stall this weekend, with usual favourites plus new items.  Back by popular demand – The Real Chocolate Advent Calendar which can be ordered from the stall.  Non-chocolate Advent Calendars available at Repository shop.
 
Saturday 12th November
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Readers
The annual day of recollection for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Readers for the South East area will take place at Bishop Thomas Grant School, Belltrees Grove, SW16 2HY on Saturday, 12th November.  The theme for the day is ‘Encountering God’s Mercy in the Eucharist’.  It will start at 11.00am and finish with a Mass said by the Bishop Rt Revd Patrick Lynch.  Please contact the Parish Office and let us know if you plan to attend.
 
Sunday 13th November
This weekend we welcome through Holy Baptism: James Anderson and his parents Rebecca and Doug; Theodore Anderson and his parents Gia and Robert; and Evelyn Meehan and her parents Natasha and Daniel.
 
The Brownies will be holding  a cake sale to raise money for the Guide Dog Association.
 
Monday 14th November
Invitation for new Altar Servers – Pizza Night
If you have made your First Holy Communion, attend Mass here at St James’ and would like to help us by joining our Altar Servers then please email servers@stjamespettswood.org ideally by Monday 7th November so pizza can be ordered for the right number.  The first meeting will take place from 6.30-8.00pm in the Community Centre.  Training sessions will be held to make ready for Christmas.
Alternatively, if you not free to attend on 14th November, but are interested in becoming an altar server, please email either the Parish Office or servers@stjamespettswood.org  and you will be provided with the necessary details for joining up.
 
Saturday 19th November
The next meeting of Dad & Me will be held at the Community Centre from 10.00–11.30 am.
 
Christ The King Youth Day
The Catholic Youth Ministry Christ the King Youth Day will take place at St James' from 12.00-5.30pm and will be folowed by a youth Mass at 6.00pm.  There will be activites throughout the day and refreshments will  be provided.  This event is open to all young people across the Bromley Deanery in school years 7 and above.  If you would like to attend please inform the Parish Office.
 
Tuesday 22nd November
There will be a meeting of all Catechists at 8.00pm in the Community Centre.  Anyone involved in Baptism, Children's Liturgy, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, RCIA, or would like to be involved, please feel welcome to attend.
 
Wednesday 23rd November
St James’ RC Primary School Open Day
This will take place from 9.30am.  It is not necessary to book a place, parents are invited to turn up at the appointed time.  Supplementary Information Forms will be distributed at this event.  Please contact the school directly for any further information.
Discover the peace of Shalom
The Acorn Christian Healing Foundation is a training service set up to offer a wide range of focused training experiences which meet the needs of churches and individuals who want to serve their communities better.  Subjects cover reconciliation, wholeness, and prayer ministry and equip the Church to make a transforming impact in their communities.  The Director of Acorn, Wes Sutton, is coming to give a talk at St James’ Community Centre and all parishioners are invited to attend.   Please let the Parish Office know if you are planning to be there.  Tea and coffee will be served and the session finishes at 9.00pm.
Justice and Peace Group
Meets at 7.45pm in the Meeting Room of the Parish Office (281a Crescent Drive).  All parishioners are very welcome.

This weekend we welcome through Holy Baptism: Ben Amura and his parents Hayley and Steven; Max Bowden-Brown and his parents Anita and Neil; and Jessie Rose Taylor and her parents Andrea and Jacob.
 
Sunday 27th November
RCIA  – Journey in Faith at St James’
The Journey in Faith (The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) will start with a welcome session.  Please let the Parish Office know if you would like to begin your journey with us.
 
Monday 28th November
The CWL will hold their monthly meeting at 8.00pm in the Community Centre.  All ladies who would like to learn more about the League are invited to attend.
