Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament − Monday 10am-12 noon

Christ is Risen, Alleluia! Welcome to Mass on the second Sunday in Easter season. The first reading today (from the Acts of the Apostles) gives us the basic shape of the Churches life when it began: the teaching of the apostles, the brotherhood, the breaking of bread and the prayers. We continue all these things in the Mass.

The reading also tells us that the early Christians shared everything with each other, that they were respected by the community at large and that the church community grew steadily day by day. May this be our experience as we live through Easter season and allow the new life of the resurrection (sometimes disturbing, usually ambiguous but ultimately joyful) to penetrate our hearts and minds.

Monday

·                       Confirmation preparation at 6.45pm

·                       Journey in Faith at 8.00pm in the Servers Room – Enter through Social Centre.

·                       CWL AGM at 8.00pm in the Social Centre

Saturday

·                       Wedding of Ann-Marie Aleppo and Adam McDonald at 2.00pm. We ask God’s blessing on this couple for a long and happy married life.

·                       Military Whist Drive (for the Guides-see poster in porch)-7.30pm

·                       Please support!

·                       Confessions heard: 5.0.pm-5.45.pm

Thank you so much for the generosity of your Easter offering (see front page) and also for your Easter cards and greetings to Teresa & myself. It is a privilege to serve in this parish and to have the support of so many people. Thank you also to all who helped with Holy Week and Easter, and with the St John Passion. A CD of this will be available very soon, and PWCT have sent £2,000 to the Bromley Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Saturday Mass From Saturday April 5th the 9.30am service will NOT be a Mass but instead a Service of the Word and Holy Communion. I have been reflecting on my time and my workload and would ask you to understand the reason for this. I am very grateful to our Eucharistic Ministers who will lead the Saturday worship, and I have asked Mary Kelly and Pat Murray to co-ordinate this. This also means that confessions from April 5th will not be heard any longer on Saturday morning.

Times for confessions from that date will be:

·                       Saturday 5.00pm – 5.45pm

·                       Monday 10.00am – 10.20am

I hope this will meet pastoral needs - and remember that I am always happy to hear confessions at other times when I am available.

Will you be a Welcomer?

The commitment is to arrive, on a rota basis, 15 minutes early for the Mass you normally attend. You give a friendly greeting to fellow parishioners and visitors, to help people feel at home, and hand them a bulletin. We aim to have two or more welcomers at the door.

We hope that individuals and families will take a flyer, complete the slip and leave it in the box in the porch marked ‘Welcomers’.

If you feel you would like to do a little but significant something for your Parish, this is your chance! Please sign up without delay.

Confirmation

As a result of his by-pass operation, Archbishop Kevin will be out of action until the end of June and so Bishop Paul Hendricks (Area Bishop for the south west) will be coming to confirm our young people.

Mass Requests

Would you please use the official brown printed envelopes for your offering, available in porch – Thank you. (and PLEASE take your Mass sheets home!)

Health & Safety Inspection

We have to address a number of issues including parking : PLEASE do not ever park on the circular drive way on Crescent Drive as this constitutes a hazard.

Rotas

Please bear with us as we get the rotas in order. Unfortunately current publicised rotas will not be changed but future copies will reflect any amendments.

Don’t forget our website! (stjamespettswood.org) Every blessing. Fr.B.
