The readings today remind us that God’s activity is not limited to the Church.  Goodness, love, compassion and justice are found throughout the world and part of the Church’s task is to recognise, encourage and celebrate these things and to point to their origin in God.  “By her relationship with Christ, the Church is a kind of sacrament or sign of intimate union with God and of the unity of all mankind.  She is also an instrument for the achievement of such union and unity.”  (Lumen Gentium – 2nd Vatican Council)

Today we welcome Bernard White who will be appealing on behalf of CAFODFamily Fast Day is this coming Friday 2nd October.  Please bring your offering next Sunday for the second collection.

Coloma School (Croydon) is celebrating its centenary with a Mass in Westminster Cathedral  tomorrow (Monday) at 2.15pm; and on Tuesday (again in Westminster) we have the episcopal ordination of Mgr Richard Moth as Bishop to the Forces.  Mgr Richard was formerly our Vicar General (right hand man to the bishop.) Our prayers and good wishes are with all concerned .

Archbishop Kevin will make his first visit to our parish on Sunday 18th October.  He will celebrate 10.00am Mass and preach at 11.30am, and will then lunch in the presbytery.  We look forward to his visit and I know he will be keen to greet as many of you as possible.

This Tuesday is the feast of St Michael and All Angels – a wonderful feast reminding us of God’s protection and care for us all.  Could you perhaps get to Mass?  (9.30am or 7.15pm).

“Through him the angels of heaven offer their prayer of adoration as they rejoice in your presence forever.  May our voices be one with theirs in their triumphant hymn of praise: holy, holy, holy...."

Mass this coming Wednesday is at 9.00am in St James’ School and NOT in church.  Coffee will be served in school.

Every blessing for this coming week.  Fr Bryan
