Welcome to Mass today. After his resurrection Christ promised that he would send the Holy Spirit on his Church. It is this Spirit which is the driving force of the church, reminding us of the teaching of Christ. It is the same spirit which is given to us in the sacraments – especially in confirmation and ordination. Please remember in your prayers our young people who are to be confirmed here on May 15th.

Notice from Flavio Lorio

On Yer Bike Cycle Challenge. Flavio is undertaking a 40 mile cycle ride today (Sunday 27th) in aid of the RNLI, St Michaels Hospice and the Knight of St Columba. It starts in Hastings Old Town and is a circular route taking in Pevensey Castle. I would be grateful for sponsorship – thank you. (forms in porch)

 

Toddler group – New mums welcome. We meet every Wednesday from 1.30pm – 3.00pm in the Social Centre.  Please contact Alison Craddock.

 

Quiz Night – Saturday 10th May at 7.30pm – 10.30pm

In St James’ Social Centre.  Raising money for the Explorers and St James pre-school. Tickets £5.00 available at the door or from Chas or Geraldine (see “What’s On in May” for email links).

Rock and Blues evening organised by the Knights of St Columba in aid of the Samaritans.  Tickets can be purchased in advance by contacting Peter Benson.

 

Confirmation -Thursday 15th May at 7.30pm

·               Many thanks to parents for baptism certificates of young people not baptised in St James – a few are still awaited.

 

·               Would all young people please have a confirmation name (usually but not always a saints name)

 

·               Each young person needs a sponsor to be with them at the confirmation Mass (this needs to be a practising Catholic who will encourage their confirmee in the faith).

 

 

Firm Believers –Would you like to be more fit and healthy by Summer?  If so, come and try our inter-church fun-fitness class, restarting now in St James’ Social Centre – every Wednesday, 7.00-7.45pm.  We are a friendly group for all abilities – just turn up in comfortable clothing and shoes, bring a towel or mat to lie on and give it a try.  £4.00 All welcome.  Any queries to Doreen on 020 8467 0378
