Exposition: Monday 10.00am-12 noon.
Today’s Gospel is a summary of the
entire Christian life. Jesus taught that
we are to love God with heart soul and mind and to love other people as we love
ourselves. A short statement which takes
a lifetime to learn!
We welcome David Murray from CAFOD who will be
speaking at all Masses this weekend. The
Saturday Mass (6pm) is a Youth Mass and will involve many of our young people. Thanks to them and to the leaders.
We welcome through Holy Baptism, (Sat 4.15pm) Niamh
Mary Clifford (1year) and her parents Sarah and Anthony and godparents Maurice,
Rachel and Catherine.
Monday: No
Exposition or Journey in Faith today
CWL Meeting at 8pm in the Social
Centre
Tuesday: Champions
Challenge, our Inter-Church Holiday Club meeting at Southborough Baptist
(opposite) Tuesday to Friday mornings. Many
thanks to those who will be helping with this.
Next Sunday: Bandi
Mbube from the Manna Centre will be speaking at Mass (10am and 11.30am). NB We shall be supporting the Manna Centre
now each month on the 2nd
Sunday of the month – on weekend of 8/9th please bring in
toiletries (disposable razors, shampoo, shaving foam, hand soap, toilet rolls,
deodorants.). Thank you.
The
Children’s Holiday Club will be presenting a service at Southborough
Baptist at 3pm. Could I ask for really good support for this and for the
children?
Servers Wanted! Please take a
servers form from the porch and return to Presbytery ASAP. There will be a servers’ meeting after half
term.
Christmas Choir – For ‘Thrice Welcome Christmas’ (carol service) on Sunday
21st December and Midnight Mass. Practices in Church on Sundays, 3.30pm to 5pm
starting 9th November. All
singers welcome but commitment essential. John Rutter’s music will feature.
Please pray for a Southwark Priest each day. Prayer sheets in carousel.
Book Amnesty! We would be grateful for the return of any booklets on
baptism, marriage or funerals. Please
place in plastic box in porch. Thanks.
St
Discovering
Priesthood Day – See poster in porch. I do hope some boys (14-18 years) will attend
this special day at the seminary and learn something of a priest’s life and
work. A fun day – and parents can shop
in nearby
KNOWING GOD BETTER
Would you like to get more out of your faith?
Then come along on Mondays (1.30pm or 8.00pm)
starting Monday 3rd November
6 relaxed sessions of video presentation and
discussion of the Faith.
All warmly welcome!
Holy Communion – Would the main body of the church please come to the
altar first, on a row by row basis. When
they have reached the last row the congregation from the Lady Chapel side of
the church should come up the centre of the church on the left hand side and
those under the choir on the right hand side. I have asked the Welcomers to assist with the
stewarding of this until it becomes routine.
Thank you
Marriage Convalidation – Many couples have contacted me and there may be
more. Please get in touch if you did not marry in a Catholic ceremony
or are unsure about your situation.
Coffee after Mass – Do come in to the Social Centre for coffee / tea /
refreshments after Mass – a great way to get to know each other..........
Mass Sheets and CTS Leaflets – Please take the coloured Mass
sheets home! They are for you to use during the week and have
interesting articles. There are also CTS
leaflets in the porch, price 20p.
Thanks to those who came to Tim and Dominique’s superb recital
last Saturday (programme in porch). £450
was raised for St James’ School PTA.
Happy half-term to our young people and families!
Fr Bryan.
