Confessions: Saturday 5.30-6.00pm and Monday 10.00-10.30am.  Also by prior arrangement or at call.

Exposition:  Silent adoration and Benediction on Monday 10.00-10.30am.

Today is the feast of Christ the King. The gospel reading is a conversation between Jesus and Pontius Pilate on Good Friday culminating in Pilate asking the question in the next verse (possibly cynically): “What is truth?”  As we prepare for Advent each of us would do well to ask ourselves: “What is the truth about myself?”

Advent (which starts next Sunday) gives us a great opportunity to “take stock” of our lives, to reflect a little more deeply on our faith and to receive Christ’s forgiveness for our sins.

I strongly encourage everyone to make their confession before Christmas – and what better opportunity than at our Penitential Service on Tuesday 1st December at 7.30pm?  (At which there will be 6 priests.)

Young families are especially welcome and I do ask parents to bring their children (who have made their First Holy Communion) to confession so that it becomes a regular and natural part of their Catholic life.

To help you prepare (and prayerful preparation for confession is essential) please take a copy of “Making a Better Confession”.  It is user friendly and I have found it very helpful myself.

Advent is a great time to “start again” and even if you have not been to confession for a long time I hope you will feel very welcome to return to this wonderful means of God’s grace.

Today we welcome (Saturday at 4.30pm) through Holy Baptism, Emilia Patricia Megan Woolsey (4 months), her parents Gemma and Stephen and godparents Peter, Lucy, John and Jonathon.

Today there is a second collection for Help for Heroes (supported by CWL nationally).

Tuesday Mass at 7.15pm.  Please support this Mass which is particularly for those of you at work during the day.

Christmas choir practice at 8.00pm.  We need more tenors and basses so please come!

Wednesday Catechists course (4th of 11) at 7.45pm.

Friday Fr John Weatherall from the Diocesan Finance office is coming at 11.30am to discuss proposals for development of the hall with the Scoping Group.

Saturday – clearing the leaves and cleaning the hall  Can we please have a really large working party (10.00-11.30am)?  Jobs will be allocated and refreshments provided.  These sessions are always great fun so please sign list in porch – TODAY!

Please buy My Day by Day (or Walk with Me which is an alternative) at £1 and Bible Alive for Advent at £1.95.  Also Junior Day by Day for children – excellent value at 50p.

First Holy Communion  Saturday 12th June 2010 at 10.30am.  Parents of Year 3 (or above) children who do not attend Catholic Schools should take a form from porch and return it next Sunday.

Confirmation 2010  with Bishop Pat – Tuesday 18th May 2010 at 7.30pm.  There will be full details about this next week.

Many thanks to all who helped with the Baptism families’ celebration last Sunday.  It was a great occasion (see pictures on the website).

Do browse our excellent website for all the latest, especially the fund raising scheme!

And please, please make sure you are registered with the parish, and that you inform us of any changes! (forms in carousel in porch).

Every blessing, Fr Bryan.
