Welcome to Mass!  Today is Home Mission Sunday, a day of prayer for the spread of the Gospel in England & Wales and an opportunity for us to become more aware of the challenge to share Christ’s Good News with others.  A second collection will be held today supporting the work of the Catholic Agency to support evangelisation in England and Wales (CASE) www.caseresources.org.uk.  It’s worth having a look at.

Today (Sun)              Special welcome Mass for all children baptised here (or elsewhere) over the past year or so (11.30am Mass) followed by lunch for families in the Social Centre.  We are richly blessed with our young families and we pray that they may feel warmly welcomed into the family of St James.

Monday                      Journey in Faith – first meeting: (8.00–9.30pm in the presbytery).  A gentle introduction to the basics of the Catholic Faith.  Non-Catholics AND Catholics equally welcome!

Tuesday                     Deanery Youth Training Session – the 2nd of 4 at 8.00pm in the Social Centre.

                                    Petts Wood Churches Together – AGM and meeting at the Quaker Meeting House 8.15pm.

Sequence Tea Dance – 1.30-2.30pm for beginners, 2.30-4.30pm the usual tea sequence dance.  Please support and pick up a flyer in the porch.

Saturday                    Golden Wedding Mass for Sheila and Fred Kitchen (3.00pm).  We wish Sheila and Fred every blessing and many more years of happily married life.

Youth Group Meeting 3.45-5.45pm.The theme will be World Challenge in Botswana.  All St James young people welcome in years 7-10.

Knights of Columba Annual Seminar at Aylesford  2.00-4.00pm.  Fr Timothy Finigan will consider the question – ‘The Church, fit for Mission?’  There will be a break for refreshments followed by questions.

Next Sunday             Mission Appeal which will be given by Fr Alan Bell from the Crusade of the Holy Spirit – 2nd collection.

Interest Free Loan Scheme This operated some years ago during Mgr Elliott’s time.  If anyone has a live certificate and wishes a refund please contact Fr Bryan.

Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (CCRS) is a course which is open to teachers, catechists, parishioners and all Catholic adults who are keen to deepen their understanding of their Catholic faith, including Old and New Testament, Christ, The Church, Sacraments and Christian Morality.  At Tooting Bec (or Canterbury) on Saturdays.  See poster in porch for full details.

The clergy retreat  last week was excellent – given by Fr.Timothy Radcliffe OP who was former Master of the Dominicans.  Thanks to the many people who maintained the work of the parish, and to all of you for your prayers.
