Confessions: Saturday at 6.50pm after the 6.00pm. Mass and Monday 10.00am after the 9.30am Mass, and also by prior appointment or at call.  Exposition: Monday 10.00-11.00am.

Welcome to Mass today!

We all have our doubts.  Jesus’ first disciples certainly did and at first could not believe he had risen, but when they met together on the first day of the week (Sunday), to celebrate the Eucharist they realised that he was present amongst them.  And so it is with us.  The risen Lord is with us through each other (the community), the Word (the reading of scripture) and supremely- through Holy Communion – he is made known to us in the Breaking of Bread.  This has been the experience of Christians for over 2,000 years.  May it be ours today.

We welcome                 Mrs Anna Bosher as the new Head Teacher of St James’ School.  We wish her many happy years at St James’ and assure her, and the entire school staff, of the support of our parish community.  Welcome!

Monday (20th)              Journey in Faith recommences this evening in the Presbytery (8.00-9.30pm).  The present group, plus any non- Catholic (18 plus) who would like to learn a little more about the Catholic Faith are all warmly welcome.

Tuesday (21st)             Rainbow Bookshop 25th Anniversary service in the Methodist Church at 8.00pm.

Wednesday (22nd)       Interchurch fun fitness restarts this evening.  7.00-7.45pm in the Social Centre – stay on if you wish for tea, etc and chat.  Suitable for all levels of fitness – go at your own pace.  Wear any comfortable clothing and shoes.  £4 per session, so give it a try – just turn up.

Saturday (25th)            On-going formation session for all Eucharistic Ministers from 9.30am-12.30pm.  Please let me know if you are unable to attend.  Thank you.

Wednesday (29th)        Baptism Preparation Evening from 8.00-9.30pm in the Presbytery for parents who have been informed.

Amendment to a notice from last week

Clare Stone (Parish Administrator) now works in the Presbytery on Tuesday evenings (5.00-9.00pm  NOT morning) and on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.30am-1.30pm

Care of our property

I am increasingly concerned about careless treatment of both the church and Social Centre.  In church there are countless scratch marks on benches, and there is considerable ‘litter’ after each Sunday Mass.  The toilets are often left in an unacceptable state.  Would parents please accompany young children to the toilet and ensure that toilets are left in a clean and tidy state.  The piano’ in the centre (my own) has been vandalised, the locked lid having been forced open.  Would ALL hall users please take extra care, and check any unruly behaviour by children.  Thank you.

Porch Notice Boards

There are many things to look at / think about / take.  Please take a few moments each week to see what is ‘on offer’.  I am always happy to talk with parishioners about specific events/courses, etc....All these things are to help us in our on-going faith formation –vitally important for us all.  (Those who have offered various ministries will be contacted.)

Monday 4th May (Bank Holiday)

Altar Servers Rally at Aylesford Priory (near Maidstone).  Nick Babb will be contacting parents.  Families invited are too and this will be a really pleasant day out in the lovely grounds of Aylesford.  There will be concelebrated Mass with Bishop Paul Hendricks at 11.30am.  Servers practice here next Saturday at 10.30am.

Also at Aylesford our Diocesan Day of Celebration with Archbishop Kevin on Saturday, 27th JuneThe Archbishop is hoping for a vast gathering of the diocese to bring to a climax  the year of St Paul.  We are planning at least one coach; there will be more details next week, but please put it in your diaries now!

Thank you to everyone who made Holy Week and Easter such a wonderful time here at St James’.  And a special thank you for your Easter offering last Sunday, at this time of financial uncertainty.  It is greatly appreciated.  Thanks also to everyone who was involved in Handel’s Messiah (letter on board from HarrisHospisCare).  Recording available in repository and video of the St James’ performance is in production.

Finally, many thanks to the ladies of the CWL for the wonderful area meeting held here yesterday (Saturday) with Bishop Paul Hendricks.

May the Lord bless and guide us as we continue on through Easter Season.
