Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament − Monday 10am-12 noon

Welcome to Mass today – and a special welcome to those of you who are still new or fairly new to our community. I hope you will soon feel at home here – make sure you have completed a Parish Registration Form  - and do come in to the adjoining hall for coffee and a chat after Mass.

In the Gospel today three of Jesus’ disciples are allowed to have a glimpse of him in the glory of the kingdom of God. May we all catch a glimpse of Christ as we worship at Mass together week by week, in the scriptures, in each other and most of all in the Breaking of Bread – the Holy Eucharist.

Family Fast Day for Lent was last Friday and today we have a second collection for CAFOD and I know you will be generous.

We welcome baby James Michael Morrison (6 mths) into the fellowship of Christ’s Church through Holy Baptism (Sat. 4.30pm), his parents Tracey and Roderick, and godparents James and Elizabeth.

This afternoon – rehearsal for the St John Passion (3.00pm – 5.00pm).

Don’t forget we are in Lent!

Some suggestions:-

·           Daily Mass? 9.30am each day - remember Mass is the heart of our existence as the Catholic Church.

·           Reconciliation? (‘confession’) – Perhaps sign up for a confession slot on Sat March 1st? (list in porch)

·           Stations of the Cross – a most moving and meaningful devotion for Lent - each Sunday in Lent at 5.30pm. (not Mar 16th ) Do come (lasts about 30 minutes)

·           Lent Extra magazine – a really useful compendium of Lenten material – just £1

·           My Day by Day – excellently presented booklet with the readings for all the Masses of Lent – do buy a copy and use it at home (£1)

·           Children’s Lenten calendars (two kinds, both free.) for young families especially (just one per family please.)

Polite request

When submitting Mass intentions, memorial roses etc can you please ensure that they are printed clearly and with full information (Full Names of those to remembered and the requestor, whether deceased or welfare, contact phone number etc) to allow them to be processed efficiently. Thank you

Tickets for both performances of the St John Passion are available (March 15th & 16th) either here after Mass in the Social Centre and from tomorrow in the Rainbow Christian Bookshop in Queensway. Proceeds will go to Bromley Alzheimer’s Society. Please buy your tickets early to avoid disappointment as they are strictly limited. (Remember you have the choice of two performances – Christ Church, Willett Way on 15th and here at St James on 16th.)

No Confirmation session or Journey in Faith tomorrow (18th) Both resume next Monday 25th.

Please Pray for the souls of Andy Da Souza and Daniel Carrigan who have died recently. Daniel’s funeral will be here on Thursday February 28th at 1.30pm. He was known to many of you and especially to KSC. Our prayers and sympathy to Gwen and all the family.

Andy was also known to many of you, especially daily Mass-goers and he came to us after worshipping for many years at St Josephs, Bromley. We thank God for the many good things Andy contributed to both Parishes and he will be greatly missed in both communities. His funeral will be here on Monday March 3rd at 11.00am, and we offer our sympathy and prayers to his family.

Memorial Garden Roses are still available (£7.50). Please put your money, your name and name of your loved one in an envelope in the Mass offerings safe in the porch.

Many thanks to those who came and heard Bishop George Stack last Sunday evening in the Methodist Church. It was an excellent event and Bishop George was so pleased to meet several of you afterwards.

Thanks also to those who came and heard Paul and Rachel Elliston speak last Tuesday evening before they begin their aid work in Peru, we shall keep in contact with them and they will send us regular emails etc.

I shall be off duty for a few days this week but the Parish office will be manned as usual Tuesday to Thursday 9.30 – 12.30. NB. Wednesday’s service at 9.30am will be Liturgy of the Word and Communion, NOT Mass. If a Priest is urgently required please ring Fr. Paul (Farnborough) on 01689 851776 or Fr Bill (St Mary Cray) on 01689 821749.

A great half term week to our children!
