Passover Supper Thank you to the many people who contributed in any way to the Passover Supper celebration last Tuesday including:- those who loaned tables, dishes, candlesticks or vases; those who arranged flowers and prepared tables; the readers; and all who helped clear up at the end. A great parish team effort.

If you are still awaiting the return of any item you loaned, please contact Doreen

An account of the event with pictures can be found on the website at www.stjamespettswood.org/passover.html

Many thanks also to everyone who helped with the parish clean up last Saturday – another excellent team effort!  (Many LP’S were unearthed. Please claim TODAY if they are yours! (Social Centre.)

On Holy Thursday (20th) No morning Mass here. All the clergy of the diocese meet with the bishops to celebrate the Mass of Chrism in the cathedral at 11.15am. At this Mass the oils (baptism, chrism and oil of the sick) are blessed and each parish collects its supply for the year. The oils will be brought up at the offertory on Thursday evening. This is also the occasion when all the priests of the diocese renew their ordination vows. Please remember all the clergy- bishops, priests and deacons – of our diocese, and especially Archbishop Kevin, who has had a by-pass operation in St Thomas’ hospital in the past week.

Next Sunday is Easter Sunday, and at all Masses we shall renew our baptismal promises. These are the foundation of our faith in Christ and the Church.

Your offering next Sunday is, by tradition, your personal offering to your parish priest.

Gift Aid Envelopes will be available from next Sunday (on tables at front-left of church). If you are a tax payer and give regularly to St James, can I encourage to take out a Gift Aid form (at no cost to yourself but of great benefit to the parish!). Please contact Geoff Ford.

Sacrament of Reconciliation (‘confession’) Do consider coming to this sacrament next Saturday between 10.00am and 12 noon. The Church teaches that Catholics should go to confession at least once a year.

Every blessing to you and your families. Easter will be a little different this year in that it does not coincide with the school holidays. I do hope that St James will be full for the major services, as we recall the great events of our redemption in Christ.
