Confessions: Saturday 5.30-6.00pm and Monday 10.00-10.30am.  Also by prior arrangement or at call.

Exposition:  Silent adoration and Benediction on Monday 10.00-10.30am.

Tuesday 22nd September has been designated “European in Town without my Car Day!”.  Many churches up and down the country are organising a “Car Free Sunday” to mark this European initiative.

The Justice & Peace Group, along with the youth of the parish, invite parishioners to come to Mass without their cars next weekend (Sat/Sun 19/20th September), if they possibly can.  Leaflets will be handed out after Mass to remind you and give more information about what could be a great parish community event.  See our website for more details.  Please support this if you are physically able to do so.

Fairtrade goods will be on sale in porch/hall after each Mass this weekend and we welcome Linette once again.

We welcome all our uniformed groups (11.30am) and will bless/dedicate a new Guides’ flag in this anniversary year.

Today: our “5 in 1” second collection.  The five are: Apostleship of the Sea, Day for Life, Catholic Association for Racial Justice, Catholic Association for the Support of Evangelisation and Catholic Youth Services.  I know you will be generous in your support of all of these church-based groups.

Monday 14th September: Journey in Faith – our course for non-Catholic enquirers.  The present group will meet at 281A at 8pm and be led by Doreen Hairs.  The new group starts on Monday 21st (green flyers in porch-Catholic spouses most welcome).

Next Sunday: Annual Mission Appeal this year by Fr Joseph Udoh on behalf of the St Patrick’s Missionary Society (see poster in porch).

The Catholic Certificate in Religious Studies (CCRS) is a course which is open to teachers, catechists, parishioners and all adults are keen to deepen their understanding of their catholic faith.  Its six core modules are the Old Testament, New Testament, Jesus Christ, the Church, Sacraments, and Christian morality.  Full details on board but please have a word if you might be interested.

Readers and Eucharistic Ministers: please take details of the Day of Recollection with Bishop Pat on Saturday 3rd October at Bishop Thomas Grant School, Streatham.  Would you please tick your name in porch if you intend to go.  Please return your own form as requested.  Thank you.

Parish survey/Parish Forum – To receive the analysis of the survey carried out during the summer concerning the significant development of our hall/ social centre.  As St James’ School has an important parents meeting on 22nd September, the Forum has been postponed to Tuesday 6th October at 8.00pm.  Apologies for this clash.

Can we please have a really large turn-out for this meeting which could have many implications for our common life together here at St James’.  This is for the whole parish and I do hope every family will be represented.  Please book the date now!

St Thérèse of Lisieux: Sheila Simon has organised a coach to Aylesford for Friday 9th October when St Thérèse’s relics will arrive there (leave here 11.00am – back at about 7.00pm).  One or two places still available.

On Saturday 10th October (the next day), Archbishop Kevin will be celebrating Mass there at 11.30am.  No coach for this but if you are going and could offer one or two car places please sign list in porch and network accordingly.  I do encourage you to support these events which will be very significant in the life of the Catholic Church in England, and which will hopefully bear much fruit.  Leaflets in porch but you can read all about this here.

Mass Intentions: Please get these in as soon as possible especially if want a specific date, and please fill in all details clearly- thank you!

21st/22nd September: Pondering the Word (details in porch) – highly recommended.

Wednesday 23rd: Baptism preparation evening for parents who have been informed. (8.00pm)

Children’s Liturgy Group begins again at the 10am Mass next Sunday.  A reminder that this is for children aged 3 (no younger) to children in year 2 (aged 7).  If any parent wishes to be involved (Mums or Dads) please contact Liz Lawrence.  Rotas in porch (and online soon).

Do remember we now have Mass on Tuesdays at 7.15pm as well as at 9.30am.

I am on retreat this week and will remember you all in my prayers.

Every blessing, Fr Bryan.
