A warm welcome to Mass today.  Our Lord’s story of the sower (today’s Gospel) reminds us of our need to have real depth in our lives.  We should not be swayed by the lure of the world but should be centred on God and the Gospel of Christ.  Perhaps we can remind ourselves of the Catholic teaching that we should be at Mass each Sunday.  This is the absolute ‘base-line’ for us as Catholic Christians.  Do remember to be at Mass when on holiday or when away from St James.  The whole Church (the Body of Christ) is seriously weakened when even one member is absent.  May the Lord inspire and strengthen us in our discipleship of him.

We Welcome through Holy Baptism Jessica Catherine Collins (2 yrs) and her parents Joanne and Martin, and godparents Josephine and Clive (Sat 4.15pm)

We welcome also our uniformed organisations to the Parade Mass at 11.30am.

Monday:         Journey in Faith (Presbytery) at 8.00pm – the current group.

Forthcoming Social Events

·         St James School Leavers Mass – Wednesday 23rd July at 9.30am

this will be a very special Mass for our year 6 children as they move onto secondary schools, but it will also be the last Mass with Pauline Sammon as Head Teacher and there will be a presentation from the parish.  All parishioners are welcome to this Mass.

·         Teddy Bear’s Picnic – Wednesday 23rd July at 3.15pm in Presbytery garden (CWL) £2 adults, £1 children (teddy Bears free!!) Raffle (no unaccompanied children please)

·         St Jamesfest!! – Sunday 27th July – there will be a Parish bring and share picnic to celebrate our Patron Saint (12.30pm onwards) – please feel free to bring your own barbecue if you wish – a great way to bring our three congregations together!

“Thousands call for the ordination of married men”

In the wake of last year’s consultation ‘Towards a Vision for the Future’ could I draw attention to the above article in The Tablet (21/06/08 p.36) and invite you to consider the petition referred to therein.  Copies of the petition are available for perusal and signature at both entrances to the Church, or online at www.marriedpriests-ew.org.  Thank you – Joanna Longhurst.

Registration

Please make sure you are registered with the Parish!  (Forms in porch please return to Fr. Bryan)

Car for Sale

1996 Suzuki Swift GLS (White). 1 years MOT. No Road Tax.

Further details from Marcel at Holy Ghost Fathers 020 8467 3555.

Do you play a musical instrument? (any, but especially string, wind or brass.) I am trying to compile a database of players – we have incredible talent in the parish!  Christ Church (in Willett Way) runs an orchestra (I occasionally play myself) – could we have an orchestra here at St James?  Please take a form from porch and return to presbytery.

Every blessing for this coming week – Fr Bryan
