Welcome to Mass today!

Easter Sunday is the most important day in the Christian year.  From the darkness of death, God raises Jesus to new and eternal life, and he offers that same gift to us – but we must be disposed to receive it.  Are we?  Or is it ‘business as usual’?

The Resurrection is very much about how live our lives here and now – AND about how we look after God’s creation (see Tuesday below).  May this Eastertide (50 days, until Pentecost) bring us all newness of life, hope and love, in the power of the Risen Christ.  Happy Easter!

A gentle reminder to our visitors.......The church’s teaching is clear that Catholics should be at Mass each Sunday (unless there is a serious reason).  Holy Communion is a sign of our union with Christ and with the Catholic Church.  If you do not attend Mass each Sunday, or if you are not a Catholic, you are warmly welcome to receive God’s blessing – please cross your arms across your chest and bow your head.  Thank you.

Tuesday (14th)          Justice and Peace Group at 8.00pm, to which all members are requested to attend.

Wednesday (15th)     Easter Draft Day and Mystery Trail at St Michael’s, Locksbottom from 10.30am-2.30pm for Pre and Primary school children£3.00 per child and £2.00 for siblings.  Advanced bookings only.  Cecile Hasett 01689 852696.

Saturday (18th)         Senior Youth Group 1.30-3.30pm.  Come and join us for lunch and tell Roger Wright of the Justice & Peace Group how you think our church can help the environment (please enter through church).

At 12 noon there will be a CWL Area Mass with Bishop Paul followed by lunch and meeting for members in the Social Centre.

Junior Youth Group 3.45-5.45pm.  Come and join us for fun and games and a special art workshop with Kelly Robson.

Firm Believers

We restart on Wednesday 22nd April, (7.00-7.45pm) in Social Centre (£4).  Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes.  Relaxed atmosphere – come and give it a try!  Contact Doreen Hairs.

Eucharistic Ministers

There will be a special on-going formation session for all Eucharistic Ministers on Saturday 25th April (9.30am–12.30.pm).  Please let me know if you are unable to attend.  Thank you.

Our Welcome Booklet  If you have not already picked up a copy of our Welcome Booklet, please take one from the carousel in the lobby.  One copy per household please – for newcomers or regular worshippers.  It contains a wealth of information about the parish, and we hope it will prove helpful to all parishioners.

Gift Aid  Could Gift Aid donors please advise if they have NOT paid sufficient tax to cover their donations as this is a legal requirement.  If you would like to give regularly to the parish through this scheme but do not do so already please contact me.  The parish benefits by 28p for every pound given – thank you.  Geoff Ford

Thank you  The Knights of St Columba would like to thank everyone who made the race night such a great success.

Clare Stone our Parish Administrator now works in the presbytery on Tuesday evenings (5.00-9.00pm and not Tuesday mornings) and as usual on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9.00am-1.00pm.

Journey in Faith starts again next Monday (20th April) in the Presbytery from 8.00-9.30pm.  The present group, plus any non-Catholic who would like to learn a little more about the Catholic Faith, are all warmly welcome.

Many thanks to all who have been involved in presenting Holy Week and Easter.  It has been a wonderful time, with so many people working together.  Special thanks to our flower arrangers (the church looks wonderful), choir, organist and choir director (I know many of you have appreciated the music this year), readers, ministers, servers, welcomers, cleaners – and anyone else I have left out!  And thanks too, from Teresa and myself, for your cards and good wishes at Easter.  It is all greatly appreciated.  Saint Augustine said ‘We are an Easter people, and alleluia is our song’!

Every blessing. Fr Bryan.
