We celebrate today the Dedication of the Lateran Basilica, which is the Cathedral of the Pope as Bishop of Rome (and not St.Peter’s, as many people think!).  We also remember and pray for the dead of the two world wars, and pray for lasting peace on earth (see Tuesday below).

Baptisms (Sat)  Welcome to Jessica Rose Guyton (18 months), parents Belinda and Andrew and godparents Jennifer, Corey, Mark and Nichola; and James Ross Macfadyen (18 months), parents Clare and David, and godparents Medeleine, Kathleen and Darren.

Today is Remembrance Sunday.  We shall mark this with the Last Post and Reveille (bugle) at the end of the Sunday Masses.

Christmas Choir  First practice this afternoon at 3.30pm – All singers welcome to prepare music for Carol Service (Dec.21st) & Midnight Mass.

Monday:         Knowing God Better’ – some 40 people came to the first session – very encouraging.  2nd session: “Knowing God’s Love at1.30pm or 8.00pm in the Social Centre.  All welcome.

Tuesday:        Justice & Peace Group at 8.00pm Environment, plus Rachel and Paul in Peru.  Do come and get involved!

Thursday:      St James School Open Morning (poster in porch)

Friday:            St James School PTA Shopping Evening  from 7.30pm in the St James School Hall.  Tickets £3.00 (including a glass of wine) from Sue David or on the door.

Saturday:       Annual Mass for those who lie buried in the Church yard of St Mary’s Church, Chislehurst (12 noon.)

                        Young people’s Choir for Vigil Christmas Mass (24th Dec at 6.00pm).  This Mass will be reinstated this year and Pauline Fabbricatore is assembling a choir for children and young people – Saturdays 2.45-3.45pm in the Social Centre – starting next Saturday 16th NovemberPlease support!

                        Mass now on Saturdays at 9.30am, followed by confessions (10.00-10.30am – Fr Joseph).

Next Sunday: Roly The Clown at Christ Church, Willett way, 4.00pm – a rare opportunity and highly recommended.  St James’ people are warmly invited.  Roly Bain is a clown and also an Anglican priest.  Suitable for all, including young children (poster in porch).

Advance Notice Taizé Service (by candlelight) at Christ Church, Willett Way on Sunday 23rd November at 7.30pm for all the Petts Wood churches.  There will be a rehearsal for singers on Thursday 20th November 8.00pm at Christ Church.  All warmly welcome to this meditative celebration.

Guides Christmas Lunch – Sunday 14th December 2.00-4.00pm

The Guides and Leaders would like to invite all parishioners over 60 to the 14th Christmas Lunch organised by the group, followed by entertainment from the Brownies.  Please add your name to one of the lists in the porch.  We're looking forward to it!  3rd Petts Wood West Guides and Leaders.

Servers wanted! Any child who has made his / her first communion is welcome to train as a server but regular commitment is essential.  Forms in porch – return to Presbytery please.

Holy Communion –  Main body of church please come out first, on a row by row basis.  Then Lady Chapel row by row from front down centre of church on the left hand side and those under choir on the right hand side.  Thanks.

Tea/Coffee etc in the Social Centre after the Sunday Masses-do come in for refreshments and a chat.
