Confessions: Saturday 5.30-6.00pm and Monday 10.00-10.30am.  Also by prior arrangement or at call.

Exposition:  Silent adoration and Benediction on Monday 10.00-10.30am.

Welcome to Mass today – Remembrance Sunday.  The readings today are about sharing and giving.  A widow shares the last of her food with Elijah; and another widow (in the gospel reading) gives all she has and is commended by Jesus.  A few years ago there was a children’s song: “Love is something if you give it away – you end up having more.”  How true.  Jesus teaches us the paradox: it is in giving that we receive.

Remembrance Sunday Last Post and Reveille will be sounded at the end of the Sunday Masses to honour the dead of 1914-18 and 1939-45, together with all who have fallen in war, whatever their nation or convictions.  Many thanks to those who have so beautifully displayed the poppies and who arranged the RBL collection.

We welcome through Holy Baptism, Leo Antonio Modera Jayasekara (9 months), his parents Emilia and Sean and godparents Lisa and Robert; and also Phoebe Anna Harrison (8 months), her parents Hannah and Neil and godparents Kirsty and  Anne- Marie and Andrew.

We welcome also our uniformed groups to the Parade Mass at 11.30am.  The Cubs will have a Cake Sale after the Parade Mass – please support!

Today Second collection for Clergy Support Fund.

Tuesday 10th Mass at 7.15pm. This is meeting a real need and I do encourage those of you who work during the day to come.

Justice and Peace Group at 8.00pm Paul and Rachel Elliston will give a report on their very difficult time in Peru over the past 18 months.  Several of you met them before they went (Paul is my nephew).  I do hope we have a good attendance.

Wednesday – NB Mass at 9.00am at St James’ School with Year 3 (not in church), followed by coffee.  Congregation most welcome.

At 7.45pm the second session of the Catechists’ course.

Thursday St James’ School Open Morning, 9.30am for about an hour, when SIF (application) forms will be available.  Parents applying for Catholic schools please pick up blue form from me TODAY after Mass, which explains when and how forms are to be handed to me, and returned to parents.

Mission and Planning Team (MaP) at 7.45pm in the meeting room.  Do let any member of MaP know if you would like a particular topic raised.

Next Sunday the 11.30 mass will be Mass of Welcome for children who have been baptised here (or occasionally elsewhere) in the past year or so, followed by a light buffet in the social centre.  Please let us know if we have left you out!

Advance Notices

Penitential Service with 6 priests on Tuesday 1st December at 7.30pm.  I do encourage everyone to make their confession before Christmas and this is a wonderful opportunity, especially for families.

Publications Don’t forget the Catholic papers. Also My Day by Day and Bible Alive are all available for December.

Saturday 5th December The Wave Climate March in Westminster (starting with a service in Westminster Central Hall led by Archbishop Vincent Nichols and Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury.)  Leaving Petts Wood Station at about 10am – list in porch and flyers next week.  CAFOD has asked all parishes to support this event.

Christmas Choir rehearsals start in church on Tuesday 17th November (8.00-9.30pm).  The choir will sing on Sunday 20th December at 6.30pm (Thrice Welcome Christmas) and Midnight Mass on 24th December.  All singers most welcome but commitment is essential!

Do browse our excellent website for all the latest!  And please, please make sure you are registered with the parish, and that you inform us of any changes! (forms in carousel in porch).  Thanks.

And have a good week, Fr Bryan.
