Welcome to Mass today I hope as many of you as possible will be able to come to the Residents’ Association Service this afternoon at 4.00pm in the Memorial Hall. It is a great way to meet with our friends from the other churches, and also a way of reaching out to the community. The speaker will be Mary Mason from Bromley Alzheimer’s Society – you may remember that Petts Wood Churches Together made a donation of £2,000 to them as a result of the St John Passion performances in March. Refreshments will be served after the service.
We Welcome (officially) Charles & James Dalgleish into our Catholic community. Charles & James were baptised in the Church of England and of course that baptism is accepted by the Catholic Church. We offer our best wishes to Aline & Andrew and pray that the boys will grow in the love of God (Sat 4.15pm).
A big thank you to everyone who helped with the First Communion Mass yesterday (Sat 10.30am) – and particularly to Mandy Williams (year 3 teacher at St James’ School) and Miriam Travers for their preparation of the children. It was a wonderful occasion. Thank you also to all the parents for their support and encouragement. May we all grow in our love for Christ in the Blessed Sacrament.
Monday: Parish Forum at 8.00pm – to receive the financial statement for 2007. Having been here for 18 months or so I should like to share some of my thinking about future developments in the parish and would ask that as many of you as possible attend this forum. (Please take financial statement from porch.)
NB No Journey in Faith tonight.
Tuesday: Justice & Peace Group at 8.00pm. Minutes are available from the leaflet carousel in the porch. There will be an update from Rachel & Paul in Peru.
Saturday: Man U comes to St James! – next Saturday morning the Rev. John Boyers (Chaplain to Manchester United) will be leading a seminar on the churches role in the world of sport (10.30am – 12.30pm) – so do not miss this unique and rare opportunity to hear a speaker with first hand experience! (Young people especially welcome.)
Before that John will be at the Men’s Breakfast (8.00am in the lounge at Christ Church, Willett Way when sport will again be at the top of the agenda). ALL the men of St James’ are warmly invited but please sign list in porch today for catering purposes. (I am hoping to go myself.)

Day Pligrimage to Walsingham – Saturday 21st June
Walsingham is England’s national shrine to Our Lady in the beautiful setting of rural Norfolk. Please consider joining us to pray vocations – especially if you have not been there as yet! Details from Anne Scripture.
The Southwark Brethren is a long standing charity which helps sick and retired priests who are in need. We thank you for your continuous generosity in the past and ask for your help again this year. Please send donations to Rev. Paul Hough, St Elpheges Presbytery, 120 Stafford Road, Wallington, Surrey, SM6 9AY. Last year we were able to give £1,000 each to 30 Priests in the Diocese of Southwark and Arundel and Brighton, and also help 8 working Priests who had serious sickness, to make their situation a little easier. In addition, we have a Gift Aid scheme for those who pay tax and we the lay people who have joined by applying for a Gift Aid form. (Forms available in porch-please support if poss. Fr Bryan).
