This weekend (10.00am Mass) we warmly welcome Gwen Carrrigan, Margaret Riley, Modupe Ekpoudom, Lee Haslett and Lee Mallin into full communion with the Catholic Church; and also Tracey Morrison, Maricela Proud and Francis Osei-Bonsu who, with the others, will be confirmed.

We welcome also their sponsors, families and friends, and pray that they will all grow in their faith together with all of us at St James.Everyone is most welcome to a special reception after the 10am Mass in the Social Centre.

We welcome also Thomas Joseph Molloy (10 months) through Holy Baptism (Saturday 4.30pm), his parents Joanne and Joseph, and godparents Ruth, Rachel, Joseph and Nolan.

Monday Journey in Faith (present group) 8.00pm in the Presbytery.  A new group will start on 21st September – green flyers in the porch.

CWL meeting on Monday 7th September at 8.00pm.

Tuesday Justice and Peace group at 8.00pm with Jim Simmons (new manager for CAFOD Southwark).  Jim will give a PowerPoint presentation about many of CAFOD’s current projects, including its work with HIV/AIDS sufferers.  Please support this evening by coming along and hearing about this good work, and also about the excellent work of our own J&P group!

Wednesday Mass with St James’ School (9.30am).

Next weekend we shall have our “5 in 1” collection.  The parish has done this for many years to cut down on the number of second collections.  The five are: Apostleship of the Sea, Day for Life, Catholic Association for Racial Justice, Catholic Association for the Support of Evangelisation and Catholic Youth Services.  I know you will be generous in your support of all of these church-based groups.

Next Sunday also Linnett will be with us again to sell Fairtrade goods after each Mass.  We greatly appreciated her visit last March and I know you will support her again.

Next weekend also – full details about Walk/Bicycle to Mass weekend 19/20th September our bit for the environment!  See also our new bike racks installed last week by Bromley Council, at no charge to St James’, to encourage us to leave our cars at home!  Many thanks to the J&P group for this initiative.

St Theresa of Lisieux – her relics will be at Aylesford on Saturday 10th October and Archbishop Kevin will be celebrating Mass at 11.30am.  I do hope many of you will go.  Please do not be put off by the idea of “relics”.What matters is the holiness of Theresa and her simple spirituality which has touched the hearts of millions of people.  She is truly a saint for our time.See CTS leaflet in porch.
