Today in the Catholic Church is our annual Day for Life (promoted by the Catholic Bishops Conference of England & Wales) and this year’s focus is on mental ill-health.  One in four people will be affected by mental health problems at some stage in their lives.  Through our second collection today we pledge our support for all who suffer and also their friends, families and carers.  Proceeds will go to the Linacre Centre for Healthcare Ethics.  I know you will be as generous as possible.

In the wake of last year’s consultation ‘Towards a Vision for the Future’ could I draw attention to the above article in The Tablet (21/06/08 p.36) and invite you to consider the petition referred to therein.  Copies of the petition are available for perusal and signature at both entrances to the Church, or online at www.marriedpriests-ew.org.  Thank you – Joanna Longhurst.

Journey in Faith

Many people have enquired about the Catholic faith in recent months and a new ‘Journey in Faith’ group will begin on Monday 8th September (8.00pm – 9.30pm).  Any non-catholic (18 years +) is most welcome to this group which will explain the basics of the Catholic faith.  However Catholics (especially spouses) are also warmly welcome.  Please contact Fr Bryan for more information.

“Come to me, and you will find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy and my burden light.”  (From today’s gospel.)

Every blessing for this coming week – Fr. Bryan
