Today is All Saints – in other words us! We think today about what we have been called to be, and what we hope to become, and what so many have been before us – people who somehow embody Christ, who show a little of his face to others, who somehow make God visible and tangible. We thank God today for all truly Holy People, and pray that we too become more like them and ultimately, more like Christ.
Saturday 31st – we welcome Fr Dennis Paul from Croydon to our 6.00pm Mass.
Monday – Journey in Faith in the church meeting room at 7.30pm.
Wednesday 4th – first session of the ECHOES catechists’ training course (for those who have enrolled).
Saturday 7th Nov 4.00-5.00pm Local rock band to perform live in the church hall. All parishioners welcome – please support this event.
New Rotas- the new rotas are available on the carousel in the porch.
Parish Survey discussion at the Parish Forum notes now available on the parish website or you can obtain a paper copy from parish office Tuesday to Thursday from 9.00am-1.00pm. The main points are:
● strong majority support for redevelopment;
● genuine concerns about cost;
● many helpful comments received at the meeting (see the notes);
● we now consult further with parish groups, other churches which have refurbished or rebuilt, and the Archdiocese;
● professional advice will be sought when and if appropriate;
● we will report to parish as early as possible in 2010;
● many thanks to everyone who has supported and shown such an interest in the project;
● any parishioner is most welcome to become involved (contact Scoping Team: Austin Barradell, Andrew Dalgleish, Chris Hairs or Roger Wright).
Monday 2nd November is the commemoration of All the Faithful Departed (All Souls). We shall have just the one Mass at 9.30am and I hope you will make a real effort to come if at all possible. Next Sunday (8th) is Remembrance Sunday and is an important day in our national and church life. The month of November is the month of the Holy Souls and we can do nothing better for them than to offer the Eucharistic Sacrifice. May they all rest in the peace of Christ – and rise in his glory.
Sunday 15th Nov – 42 families have been invited to the special Mass of Welcome at 11.30am for children who have been baptised here (or occasionally elsewhere) since September 2008. If we have left anyone out please let us know via the parish office. This is always a lovely occasion and a chance for us to welcome the newly baptised into our community.
