Agreed actions shown in bold red type.
The meeting started with the Volunteers’
Prayer, by St Teresa of Avila.
1. Apologies
for absence
Nick Babb, June Adams.
2. Human

Arrangements
for Fr Mark Odion’s visit
IS confirmed he is
coming and will stay in the Presbytery overnight. No suitable film had been identified and the
online Santa Marta material probably wouldn’t attract people to the hall
afterwards. Perhaps Fr Mark would
revisit if we decided to progress this campaign.
Meal with Fr Mark after
Saturday Mass
Members were invited to
join Frs David and Mark to a meal at the Atlas
restaurant in Petts Wood, with them as our guests. IS to organise booking.
Hosting after Sunday
Masses?
IS would confirm arrangements with Fr David, including the hosting
of Fr Mark on Sunday between Masses.
3. Global
Healing
Sub-committee meeting,
Monday 18 February
Decisions by IS, MM and
RW: bring and share supper, leftovers to be taken away by contributors, flyer
approved for printing 500 copies. IS and
RW will facilitate table discussion after each of the three sections of film.
Distribution of flyers
RW suggested that this
starts on an informal basis very soon, with members targeting parishioners
individually, giving them a flyer, inviting them personally, and noting any
expressions of interest (name and email address if possible). This should start immediately after CAFOD Fast Day envelopes
done, i.e. 16-17 March after Mass.
An opportunity for
publicity had presented itself in the form of free publicity by the Cubs, in
conjunction with the excellent idea of a Lenten Carbon Fast calendar. A flyer would be handed to anyone buying a
calendar (£1) on 02-03 March. This with
the generous cooperation of Sue David.
[Who even advertised our event from the pulpit.]
IS would encourage RCIA
group. MM would talk to
Confirmandi. Both to give out flyers.
Setting up on the day
RW to double check Parish Office had informed Firm Believers that the hall would
not be available. Start at 4pm. Tables and chairs set out without any
pre-planning. MM knew of coloured table cloths
to use. Tables for donated food. Cutlery and crockery, tea/coffee/milk to be
organised. Paper and pens for each table
(MM has these available). AV system and
media to be checked (RW).
Volunteers: most members present agreed to help with setting up.
Programme
Doors open at 7.30pm,
food to be placed at serving point, ready for guests to take to their chosen
table. [or
did we agree food would be taken from the hatch, or was that just tea/coffee?]
Light-hearted quiz to
be available on each table; answers will be displayed on the screen before or
after Fr David speaks.
Fr David to welcome
guests.
IS to introduce the
film and mention discussion breaks – very briefly.
IS and RW to take turns
facilitating the summary of discussion at tables where participants are willing
to give feedback.
Final plenary session
where we try to bring things together as a parish, and display of good
news. Does LiveSimply have a place in
the parish?
Distribute handouts (to
be decided).
Guests invited to
donate towards the Parish Project as they leave.
Clearing up
Everyone at
the meeting agreed to help with handing back food, washing up, etc. Generally
guests offer to help with furniture once the process is started.
It was
generally agreed that however long it took, it would be done.

5. Parish Project
Update on St
Catherine’s
OC outlined a few
points from Fr Joe’s emails. A bank
transfer had recently taken place, and confirmation from him was awaited. OC suggested he would write something for
Briefly to summarise achievements.
Friends of Ahotokurom
OC had studied their
website and noted the charity wasn’t specifically about leprosy. He would ask the local rep for detailed ideas on what is
happening.
6. Any other
business
RW noted that the CAFOD Parliamentary Climate
Lobby would be held on Wednesday 26 June.
PL brought Cocoa
Life to the attention of members. Cadbury’s
claim that from now on, all of their products will proudly carry the Cocoa Life
logo. This is a $400M programme, which aims to reach 200,000 cocoa farmers and
a million community members by 2022. They will be working directly with cocoa
farmers to provide training and community planning skills. Through increased
knowledge and better livelihoods, we help cocoa communities build their own
future. [Edited from their online
announcement at https://www.cadbury.co.uk/cocoa-life]. PL agreed to find out more and report back.
RW noted that the last of the four Masses for the
chosen Victims of Injustice would be heard the next day and be for Iranian
protester Atema Daemi.
There being no other business, the meeting closed at 9.10pm.
The next meeting will
be held on Wednesday 27 March at 7.45pm.
