Today is the World Day of Prayer for
Vocations to the Priesthood and Consecrated Life (monks and nuns).
We are invited to join the universal Church in praying for these particular vocations. May many people hear the Lord’s call and respond with complete openness and trust in him.
We were delighted to have Bishop Pat Lynch (our Area Bishop) on Friday morning for the 40th anniversary Mass for St James’ School. Some of you will remember the opening of the school in 1970 and even more will have been through the school, or connected with it as parents, governors, etc.
Much has happened in the world of primary education – and in the church- in the last 40 years. We are proud that our parish school (which also serves the children of St Swithin’s parish) is rated as one of the best primary schools in England. This is testimony to the faith, hard work and dedication of the staff over all those years, and also to the support of the governors, parent body and parish community
The school continues to flourish under the headship of Anna Bosher who has been in post for exactly a year. We thank God for St James’s School and for its immense contribution to the lives of so many children, and we pray for the future of the school, that it may always maintain its motto, “Faith in Action, Working Together, Walking in the Footsteps of Christ”.
Happy 40th Birthday St James’s School!
Welcome to Mass today – we especially welcome through Holy Baptism Aidan Oliver Coles (10mths), his parents Georg and Evelyn and godparents Adrian and Laura. A warm welcome also to any visitors, and also to newer members of our community - please take and complete a Parish Registration Form and return it to the presbytery as soon as possible.

Spring
Underneath winter’s struggle for survival
Life waits to be born.
After long periods of apparent desolation
Shoots appear, and colour warms the earth,
Gladdening the heart with hope.
Buried beneath our fears, preoccupations,
Apparent deadness, Life waits:
The growing is in the waiting.
A poem by Ann Lewin
Every blessing. Fr Bryan
