“The Times They Are A-changing....”

Archbishop Peter has now approved our parish decision to change our Sunday Mass times.

So from January 2nd 2011, the 10am Mass will be at 9.15am, and the 11.30am Mass will be at 11am (so Children’s Liturgy will be at the 9.15am Mass.) Please note this in your diaries because Christmas and the New Year have a habit of creeping up on us!

Please note also that Christmas Day will be on Saturday December 25th and that both this and the next day (Sunday 26th) are Holy Days of Obligation when all Catholics should be at Mass.  I thought you would like this advance reminder.

Full details of all services and events from November – January will be available soon.

This week

Mass attendances last Sunday were 601.

"All Readers - important date for your diary - a meeting on Monday 30th November at 8 pm in the church. This is to clarify and in some cases make changes in present practices, and we do need all Readers to be there.

Penitential Service – Our Advent Penitential Service will be at 7pm on Wednesday December 1st with priests from our Deanery hearing confessions. I do encourage everyone – especially younger families with children – to receive this wonderful sacrament of God’s grace.

There will be material available in the next few weeks to help us all prepare our Advent confession. It is a really important preparation for Christmas and today’s gospel is a graphic illustration of the Sacrament of Reconciliation (confession.)

Please pray for the sick: Joshua Canning, Ernest Field,  Gerald Colman and all who we know to be unwell at the moment.

The Leaves Are Ageing

The leaves are ageing:

some rust

others seep yellow

through green

a few resist

this brittle change-

charge me with love

that I may fan

amber, red, crimson

into flame

then fall, light

as the skin of a chrysalis

a poem by Mary Palmer

Have a good week everyone and I hope all parents and young people will enjoy the half term break.
