The doctrine of the Most Holy Trinity which we celebrate today is not just something to be believed but a mystery to be explored (like most religious doctrines.) God is revealed as being in relationship, and we are invited into this eternal ‘dance’ of creativity, redemption, and sanctification.
But it also reminds us of the centrality of our human relationships- how we should treat each other, forbear, love each other. Have a good look at the Rublev icon as you leave church (or during the week if you are around). It contains a wealth of theological detail (Google it and see!). At its heart- and at the heart of God- is suffering love, a love revealed to us in the Easter Cycle, which ended last Sunday, and which began on Holy Thursday.
As so often, it is poetry which perhaps captures something of spiritual truth. You might find this poem helpful as you meditate on God the Most Holy Trinity.
Trinity
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, Mother, Daughter, He and She, Compassed in one mystery.
Pattern of all relationships, creating, powerful; sustaining, not contained,
Outflowing into us
Drawn into you. O Holy God, we worship you.
(by Ann Lewin.)
We welcome, through Holy Baptism, Olivia Tienzo (11mths), her parents Janet and Brian and godparents Nicola and Wilfred (Sat 3.45pm); and also Francisco Christopher Blackman-Ortiz (4 mths), his parents Gloria and Christopher, and godparents Paolo and Richard (Sat 4.30pm)
Today is Fathers’ Day. Every blessing to all Dads (and Grandads!)
At the 11am Mass we shall remember those in our Garden of Remembrance and Memorial Book.
Mass attendances last Sunday were 717. |

The First Communion Mass (yesterday – Sat) was a wonderful occasion and special thanks are due to Miss Atkinson and Miriam Travers for their teaching of the children. We pray that they will all remain faithful to Christ in the Blessed Sacrament throughout their lives and that parents will always make Sunday Mass a priority with their children.

Thanks also to the people who were behind the many activities here last weekend! They were all well received and helped us to continue building a sense of community and involvement in the parish.
I hope you have remembered your Time, Talents and Skills sheet! (Place in box – Spares in porch) and many thanks to those who have returned them today. Please get your sheets in as soon as possible.
‘We wish you happiness…try to grow perfect; help one another. Be united; live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you.’
(St Paul in today’s 2nd reading 2 Cor.13)
Not bad advice really is it?
Every Blessing, Fr Bryan.
