In Catholic tradition we refer to Mary as “Our Lady”. This is a lovely title and the word “our” reminds us that she is “one of us”. God chose to be born through a human birth and this is why we honour Our Lord’s Mother.

God continues to come into the world through human beings (all of whom are created in his image).  Hopefully Christ will be born anew in each of us this Christmas.

Like Our Lady we too must be open to God’s Holy Spirit and then great things will happen.  It is ambiguous, a bit scary but ultimately joyful. What a tremendous thought that God uses us to fulfil his purposes!

“Father ....your eternal Word took flesh on our earth when the Virgin Mary placed her life at the service of your plan.

Lift our minds in watchful hope to hear the voice which announces his glory and open our minds to receive the Spirit who prepares us for his coming.  Through Christ Our Lord amen.”  (Alternative opening prayer for Advent 4.)

Mass attendances last Sunday were 660.
