In today’s gospel, Jesus reminds us to pray continually and never to lose heart. Easier said than done –especially when we interpret life as Bad News.

But Good News (gospel) has dominated the headlines this past week with the incredible rescue of 33 Chilean miners – a wonderful feat of human skill and ingenuity and an intensely human story of “death through to resurrection”. Deo Gratias!

Many of you have mentioned you own Good News to me this past week. Often we need to be patient (like the miners) and believe and hope..... Deo Gratias!

And  finally, we have the Good News that Canon Patrick Pearson (who retired from St Joseph’s Bromley four years ago) will be taking up residence at 281 Crescent Drive (the flat above the presbytery) from November 1st and we look forward to welcoming him to our community. Deo Gratias!

All the result of prayer, hard work and patience. A wise priest once taught we should work as if everything depended on us and pray as if everything depended on God.  Not bad advice really. Is it?

Onwards and upwards..........
