The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity starts on Tuesday (18th-25th.)

At the last Supper Jesus prayed “May they all be one, as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, so may they be in us  that the world may believe that you sent me.”  John 17:20-21.

We give thanks for the excellent relationships that exist between the Christian communities in Petts Wood but we must not be complacent and must continue along the road towards full organic unity.

Our disunity is a scandal. We are united by our common baptism, but only when we are able to share the eucharist together will we be truly united.

I do hope that you will come and pray with members of all our churches next Sunday (23rd) here is St James at 7pm at our special Taize Service. The Taize community in France draws thousands of young Christians from every tradition (and none) each year. We must pray for the gift of unity which only God can grant.

Your Body the Church

We ask you to forgive the sin that mingles even with our holiest actions.

Forgive us for the ways in which we have hurt and dismembered your body, the church.

Forgive us for any way in which we have, thoughtlessly or deliberately, insulted or patronised those who are called by the same name as ourselves.

Forgive us if we have prayed for unity and have done nothing, or very little, to help bring it about, preferring prayers to action and fantasies to hard reality.

Be active, be disturbing, be empowering, in your church and among Christian people throughout the world.

Remind us of the mighty company in heaven and on earth to which we all belong.

.John Harvey

Every blessing...... Fr. Bryan
