Today the fourth Sunday of Easter, Good Shepherd Sunday, is the day chosen as the World Day of Prayer for Vocations to the priesthood and the Consecrated Life.

Pope Benedict has written to us this year on the theme “Proposing Vocations in the Local Church”.  He reminds families, parishes and associations of their responsibility to help children and young people “grow into a genuine and affectionate friendship with the Lord”.

Might you have a vocation to be a priest, a permanent deacon (who can of course be married), a nun or a monk?  I feel there are some people in our congregation who could respond. Do have a word with me in complete confidence. It is great that one of our number is considering her call to the Religious Life. Do have a look at www.invocation.org.uk.

Mass attendances last Sunday were 843.
