Today we welcome Sister Margaret O’Brien of the Missionary Sisters of St. Columba who will be giving the annual mission appeal  (2nd collection.) I know you will give generously to the wonderful work of this missionary order.

Our gospel reading today could not be more appropriate- Jesus sending out his disciples (in pairs) to preach the Kingdom of God, to exorcise the power of evil and to heal with the oil of the sick.  We are a missionary church and this afternoon (Sunday) at 3pm we have our annual Mass for the Sick, with anointing.  Many of our home communicants will be brought to this Mass- but all are most welcome.  Many thanks to those who have organised transport, teas and entertainment.  (Holy Communion may be received twice today.)

But the work of healing goes on in many different ways - so many thanks to those who have brought in things for the Orpington Food Bank.  It will be greatly appreciated.

We remember in our Bidding Prayers today our dearly departed loved ones, inscribed in our memorial book (in porch) and who have a rose in our garden of remembrance. May they all rest in peace - and rise in glory.

Mass attendances last Sunday were 755.

Dandelions – a poem by Paul Heppleston.

Bright yellow in the morning light,

Dandelions.

A field chock full of them.

Beautiful.

What a year for dandelions!

.....

A flower that opens wholly

Holds nothing back.

Exposed and vulnerable,

It offers all it’s got;

a sign of life fully lived,

a pathway to the kingdom.

.....

Dandelions.

Beautiful in the sunlight.

Smiling back at their Creator.

Every blessing, Fr Bryan
