This week we commend to God the souls of Florence Angel (Wed 9.30am) and Mgr. John Elliott - parish priest here from 1978-2006 (Friday 12 noon). I suspect many of you will wish to be at both. Many of you have much to thank Mgr for and can do this best by offering the sacrifice of the Mass for him.
Archbishop Peter will preside on Friday, and there will be other bishops (and retired bishops) from our diocese present together with many priests and deacons - so it will be a big day for the parish. Please be seated by 11.30am at the latest. I am grateful to everyone who is helping to co-ordinate the day....more next week.
Today-2nd collection for the Maintenance and Refurbishment fund, which now stands at approx. £90,000 - remember our target is £125,000 by June! Let’s get that roof on!
At 11 am our adult candidates for reception into the church at Easter (or Pentecost) will be presented to the congregation. Please pray for them.
This afternoon (Sunday)- first rehearsal of Stainer’s musical work ‘The Crucifixion’ - all singers warmly welcome - even if you have never sung before! (3pm-4.30.pm). It will be performed here in St James’ on Sunday March 25th at 7.30.pm. Come and give it a try!

Friday. Requiem Mass for Mgr. John Elliot (Archbishop Peter) at 12 noon, followed by buffet reception in the Social Centre. Cremation at Beckenham at 3pm.

Next Sunday (22nd) our young confirmation candidates will be attending Mass in St George’s Cathedral at 12 noon as part of their preparation. (Parents’ permission slips today please!).
