This weekend we pause and remember those who have died in war.  Perhaps the only authentic response is silence – or perhaps poetry:

 

All heaven weeps to see the earth abused and maimed by war and strife,

When people hate, when people fight and rob each other of their life.

 

Kyrie eleison, kyrie eleison.  Lord, have mercy, God forgive us.

For we know not what we do

 

When greed prevails and, crushed by power, the poor are trampled on again,

The heart of God is torn in two, and Christ is crucified again.

Sunday 4th December at 4pmPenitential Service for Advent (with visiting priests).  We are all encouraged to make our confession before Christmas.  I hope the church will be full.
