Today is Palm Sunday and the start of Holy Week.

It is the most important week in the Christian calendar and culminates in the events of our redemption - the death and resurrection of Jesus, the ‘Christ’ (‘anointed one’), the Messiah, the Son of God.

Please take a poster and display clearly in your front window but do not put the flap down until next Sunday!

Today (Sunday):

Guides LiveSimply Lenten Lunch (12.30).

Confirmation Group  - 6.30pm.

(7’s and 8’ restart on the 27th).

In all the services this week, we are invited to enter the story of this last week of Jesus’ life, and to let that story move us- to compassion, to penitence- and to action.

Please make the liturgies of the Triduum (‘three days’) a priority.  Our special Holy Week Choir will lead the music.

Holy Thursday (NO morning Mass) – Mass of the Lord’s Supper , with the washing of feet- 8pm.

After this, from about 9pm, we ‘watch’ with Our Lord in the Garden of Gethsemane, and we are with him in his (mental) agony, as he awaits arrest and certain execution.  Please ‘watch’ with the Lord for 15 mins  (list in porch.). We end with Night Prayer at 10.45pm.

On Thursday afternoon we have the Requiem Mass for Ron Thompson (late of 77, Oxhawth Cresc. at  3pm. Our prayers are with Margaret at this sad time, and with the whole family.

Parishioners are most welcome to come to this Mass. May Ron rest in peace.

Good Friday

Children’s Stations of the Cross at 9.30am (NB time).

Ecumenical service for all the PW churches at 10.30am  - led by our young people - (followed by buns and tea/coffee).  Please support this service even though I know you will be at 3pm as well- we are the host church!

Solemn Liturgy of the Passion – 3pm.

Taizé Round the Cross – 8pm. Quiet, reflective, with the lovely music of Taize, to round off Good Friday.

Holy Saturday

Church cleaning- 10am-11 am- could we have volunteers please to supplement the designated group?  Thank you. (Please sign list in porch).

Confessions heard- 10am – 11 am. This is your opportunity if you missed the Liturgy of Reconciliation last Sunday (over 50 confessions were heard.)

Swieconka-  Blessing of Baskets of Easter Food. Not a Mass, a simple service of blessing (about 20 mins) – at 11.30am.  All most welcome- not just our Polish parishioners.

Solemn Easter Vigil and Mass- 8.30.pm (NB time.) The most important liturgy of the entire year   Do come, especially if you have never been before (ends c. 10.pm). (Fulfils the Sunday obligation).

Your offering on Easter Day is your personal offering to your parish priest.

Easter Sunday Masses as usual at 9.15am and 11 am, with renewal of baptismal promises.

May Holy Week be a time of great grace for each of us.

Fr. Bryan.

NEXT WEEK on Thursday week (24th) at 8pm) we have our Parish Forum when the accounts for 2013 will be presented and adopted.

This is YOUR chance to have your say about our parish finances!  Please make the effort to attend.

Requiem for John Riley (late of Wood Ride) on Wednesday 23rd April, 10.30am. Many of you will remember Moya his wife who died three years ago.  Our prayers are with son Liam at this sad time. May he rest in peace.
