Today’s Mass: God is our Father and always delights in receiving us back to himself (gospel). We may be sinners, but through our faith in Christ we are redeemed sinners- we have “come back to life”.  And for that we thank the Lord.

Beatification of Cardinal Newman by Pope Benedict at Cofton Park

 

Papal Visit  Please:

-take your copy of Magnificat, one per family – a great memento – offerings (e.g. .50pence or a £1) invited.

-take a free leaflet “Celebrating the Papal Visit”

-collect your commemorative candle, if you have ordered one (£10 in Mass Intention box please –clearly marked).

We welcome Rev. David Lane as Vicar of St Francis (Mon. 20th Sept. 8pm), and the Rev. Simon Cragg as Minister of Southborough Lane Baptist (Sat. 18th Sept. 3pm) and look forward to welcoming them to St James in due course.

Next Sunday is Home Mission Sunday -This year it falls within the historic visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the United Kingdom, and on the same day that Cardinal Newman will be beatified.  The Sunday is dedicated to the spread of the Gospel in England and Wales.  The second collection will support the work of Home Mission.  For further information about the work of Home Mission see: www.catholicchurch.org.uk and www.thepapalvisit.org.uk.

Children's Liturgy restarts on Sunday 19th September for children aged 3-8 years (without their parents please).
