Advance notices

Tuesday Sept.18th:

New ‘Journey in Faith’ group starts.  If you are not a Catholic you are most welcome to this basic introduction to the basics of the Catholic faith (with no obligation).  8pm, Presbytery, 281A Crescent Drive.  Catholics who would like a ‘refresher’ are also welcome.  Informal, questioning, laughter.......! (It could also be for baptized Catholics who may never have received the sacrament of confirmation.) I am happy to chat with anyone before the 18th, should they wish.

Also on Tuesday 18th, those from the last Journey in Faith will be getting together in the meeting room at 8pm but this session is open to everyone who would like to look more closely at the scriptures (especially the Sunday gospel readings).  This is one many initiatives to mark the Pope’s call for ‘A Year of Faith.’ (October 2012 - November 2013).

(Both these sessions will end by 9.30pm at the latest.)

Weekend of 29th/30th:

LiveSimply will be officially launched in the parish, and Jim Simmons from CAFOD Southwark will speak. Many thanks to all those who have been (and will be) involved.

Autumn Festival – Saturday 6th October, 1pm-4pm.

The Autumn Festival is fast approaching.  We would welcome your contributions of new items for raffle prizes (in particular toiletries and beauty products, luxury food items and bottles) - please leave in the box in the corridor at the back of church.

We are also collecting good quality toys and would welcome donations of plants and garden produce (apples, pears, plums etc) nearer the day.

Please let a member of the team know if you have a gazebo you are willing to lend - we will be at the back selling raffle tickets after Mass.

Thank you for your continued help and support.

Thank you so much for the presentation to Teresa and myself after the 11am Mass last Sunday, to mark our 40th anniversary! (which was on August 19th).  We were really touched by your kindness.

Bereavement Group:

This new group (all parishioners with appropriate experience and training) is available to anyone who might like a listening ear, after a bereavement, (in complete confidence).  Please let me know and I will put you in touch with one of the group.

Parish Library:

There are always new titles being added, including some on the Second Vatican Council, which celebrates the 50th anniversary of its opening on October 11th. 1962 (I was 15 but I just about remember it!)   (Do use our library- an excellent resource.).

Communication in the parish:

E mail, phone or through the website - also see list in our handbook (green). Most people can be contacted.  Also, I am always happy to speak with parishioners (about anything).  Or you might want to take me out for a drink.  Or whatever.  I’m up for it. Just give me a buzz.

Bishop Pat is making good progress - please pray for him regularly.

I hope the new school year has started well for our young people.

Every blessing, Fr Bryan.
