Today we have our Fun Run (5 km) – starting at 12.30pm by St James’ School.  Good luck to all who will be taking part - running, jogging or just walking!  After the run, a picnic in the parish garden (bring your own).  All funds raised will go to our Refurbishment Fund - for which there is a second collection this weekend.  We should be able to announce to you very soon the firm that will take on the work this summer.

Our Parish Library is re-launched today! It is now situated opposite the repository (at the end of the back corridor of church).  Do have a look/browse before you go home today.  Everything is classified and colour - coded and a librarian will on duty to help you.  Many thanks to Patrick Driscoll, to Joe Falzon who mounted the shelves and to the whole library team who have put so much effort into this.  Enjoy!!

Next Sunday - the annual mission appeal - this year a Columban sister will be appealing for funds and there will be a second collection.  There will also be a collection for the Orpington Food Bank – please take a flyer and bring in appropriate foods. And thank you for the mens’ toiletries for the Manna Centre- a really good response- it will be acknowledged in due course.

Next Sunday also we have our annual Mass with the anointing of the sick (3pm) followed by tea and entertainment.  Always a wonderful event- many thanks to those who have arranged this.

Mass attendances last Sunday were 776.

The Autumn Festival is less than three months away and will be happening on Saturday 6th October between 12 and 3pm.  Don't miss the opportunity to attend this wonderful parish celebration.  We would like donations for raffle prizes and will be looking for volunteers to help on the day.  To find out how you can support this event, please speak to one of the Autumn Festival Team at the back of church.

A PhD usability researcher (one of our younger parishioners) is looking for a challenging UX consultant position.  She has expertise in the use of usability evaluation methods and good knowledge in user centred design and cultural usability testing.  In combination with work experience obtained from different projects, her experience covers user testing, usability evaluation methods, field research, diary studies, workshops, personas, card sorting, prototyping, interviews, focus groups, surveys, quantitative and qualitative data analysis, and video editing.

Do any members of the congregation work in this field, who might be able to give advice or contacts? Please contact Fr Bryan

Jo Corteen.

Today (11am) we bid farewell to Jo who has led our folk choir for many years.

Jo has been in the choir for about 30 years - and in fact I got to know her at Coopers School all those years ago.

She has led the choir for many years, and we are all immensely grateful to her for her dedicated work, week in, week out.

Most of us do not realise the amount of work put in by church musicians - we just take it for granted.

So thank you, so much Jo. We shall miss you- but West Wickham is not far- and our loss will, in time, I am sure, be another parish's gain.  I am sure we shall see you from time to time.

Our prayers and best wishes go with you, and with Fenella and Phaedra.

I am so grateful that Susan Scripture has agreed to take over Jo's role; and thanks also to the folk choir for their leading of worship.

Every blessing.  Fr Bryan.
