We pray for the sick of our parish - and especially John Mulvey, Ted Bray, Florence Angel, Bill Morley and Joshua Canning.

Tuesday 4th – Journey in Faith – Social Centre 8pm.  We start officially today. There is still room for any non-Catholic who would like to join – or any Catholic who would like a ‘refresher’ in the basics of the Faith.  We end by about 9.15pm.  Warm, informal and relaxed.

Friday – CAFOD Family Fast Day (please bring your offering on Sunday).  Also, remember that our Bishops have asked that we abstain from meat each Friday as an act of communal penance.

Saturday 8th – Harvest Supper at Southborough Lane Baptist Church (opp. St James).  6.30pm to 8.30pm.  Please support this event – no booking – just turn up with something savoury or sweet.  ALL our Petts Wood churches are supporting this and it should be a great evening.  Children are warmly welcome and there will be special activities for them.  A great way to just be together as followers of Christ.

Next weekend we shall warmly welcome Francesca Henbest from CAFOD, who will be speaking at all Masses.  Please bring in harvest foods for the Manna Centre.  (Sheets on porch table).

Peter Luckett (90 yrs) died last Tuesday after a short illness.  We commend his soul to the love of God, and remember his daughters Hilary and Carol in our prayers.  Peter was a dedicated member of the Knights of St Columba.  His body will be received into church here next Sunday (9th) followed by a special Mass of Farewell at 6pm in accordance with the Knights’ tradition. (This will fulfil the Sunday obligation).  Peter’s Requiem will be here the following morning (10th) at 10.30am, followed by committal at Lewisham crematorium. (note NO 9.30am Mass).

He was a lovely man and a devout soul and we shall miss him.

I do encourage members of the congregation who are available to always be present at Requiem Masses.  There is nothing more effective we can do for the departed than to take part in the sacrifice of Mass.  It is also a tremendous support to the family.

Baptisms – Paula McCabe now deals with all enquiries about the baptism of children.  Please contact her through our Home Page – Parish Administration then click on Parish Office.

Mass Intentions – please get your requests in as soon as possible!  Any queries please contact Suzanne Horner through the parish website as above.

Our 2nd reading today is again from St Paul’s letter to the Philippians – an exhortation that we may know the peace of God.  Read it again when you get home or during the week.

Peace be with you!  Fr Bryan
