Welcome to Mass today- and a special welcome to any newcomers and visitors. Do come in for coffee after 10am or 11.30am Masses- and please fill in a parish registration form (in porch) and return to Fr. Bryan.

As we near the end of the church year (next Sunday) we are reminded in the gospel reading that we shall (inevitably) suffer in some way for being followers of Christ, but that God will strengthen us and give us the grace of endurance. Let us encourage each other in our faith, and give special support to those who have a hard time because of their practice of the faith.

Books and Booklets –in shelves in main porch. Please use these resources but please return them! (catechisms and books may be borrowed for two weeks.)

This afternoon (Sun.) (4.0.pm-5.0.pm) Song practice for the Taize Service which we hold here…next Sunday (25th) (Youth Sunday)   at 7.0.pm. This will be attended by people from far and wide and will be a wonderful prayerful preparation for Advent. If you have never been to a Taize service, come and enjoy the wonderful spiritual music and the contemplative silence.

All Readers! There will be a session for all who read at Mass this coming Tuesday (20th) at 8.0.pm. I am sorry this is such short notice. We should like to do some preparation for the readings of Advent (starts Dec.2nd) and also cover some general points. The session will be in church and will end at 9.30pm promptly.

Parish website!  Now up and running (stjamespettswood.org) Many thanks to Ged Equi for building the site and to Roger Wright who will maintain it. Both have spent many hours on this project and we are immensely grateful.  Have a browse!

Many thanks to those who turned up to the parish forum last Tuesday (about 50 people). It was a good meeting and much information was shared. Please take your copy of the minutes.

On Thursday-  At 4.30 pm – Catholic Teachers Mass at St. James’ School, to be celebrated by Bishop Pat Lynch, ss.cc, (our area bishop) and clergy from the deanery. ALL catholic teachers are most welcome (serving and retired).

Next Saturday (24th) ‘Military Whist Drive’ (CWL) –all welcome. Tickets from Jo Corteen or Sheila Barradell (poster in porch).

Journey in Faith.  Several non-Catholics in the congregation (and outside it) have asked for an ‘enquirers’ course, and this will begin on Monday, November 26th at 8.0.pm in the presbytery (281A, Crescent Drive) (Catholic spouses are of course welcome as well.) This will be a gentle introduction to the teaching of the Church and will take place weekly, ending promptly at 9.30.pm.  Any non-Catholic is most welcome –whatever your background- just turn up on the night!

Preparation for Holy Communion for children at non-Catholic schools. This will begin immediately after Christmas and will take place between the two Sunday Masses (ie, approx. 10.45am-11.30am). I will put a list up soon. First Communion will be on Saturday, June 7th, 2008 at 10.30am

St.James’ Pre-School urgently needs a few more committee members.  We have an excellent pre-school (now subject to OFSTED inspection). If you feel this might be you please contact Sue David.
