Mass with Anointing of the Sick
July 2011
Repeating the successful and much appreciated service held in 2009, Fr Bryan and Fr George Webster officiated at a Mass for the Sick in St James' on Sunday afternoon 17th July 2011. The second lesson was read by Bill Morley who was recovering from a serious stroke, and Fr Bryan remarked that his courage was a sign of healing in itself. The gospel reading from St Matthew was the story of the paralytic man lowered through the roof by his friends. Fr Bryan observed that the faith of his four friends would have been sensed by Our Lord and this act brought about the man's miraculous recovery. The sick as well as several others were anointed during the Mass.
Afterwards everyone was entertained to tea, with sandwiches and cakes beautifully prepared by the CWL, followed by children from St James' School playing piano, guitar and singing numbers from The Lion King. Many people contributed to the success of the afternoon and it was enjoyed by all.
