New members of the Church
On Sunday 29th June, during the 11.30am Mass, we welcomed six new adults into full membership of the Catholic Church. Their names were: Emma Doyle, Sue Ayley, Rebecca Blighton, Sue Ingle, Jack Ingle and Andrew Dalgleish. This was a very special moment in their lives and in the life of our community.
After Fr Bryan's homily, two of them were baptised and then all six affirmed their belief in the teachings of the Church. They were then confirmed and welcomed by the congregation with applause and the sign of peace.
This reception into the Church is the culmination of many months of instruction and discussion, with Fr Bryan leading them on a Journey in Faith. These sessions started last November, and had included Adrian, who was already a Catholic. Adrian gave support to the others on their journey and re-affirmed his faith during the service.
Fr Bryan announced that a new Journey in Faith would begin in September, with the uplifting news that nine people had already shown interest in learning about the Church.
